Our flight was canceled so we booked a night here and absolutely loved it. The owner is a collector of COBRA art (COpenhagen, BRussels, Amsterdam postwar art) and he has filled the hotel walls with prints and paintings from his collection. I absolutely loved the art, so this was a real bonus. And the library and reading rooms were full of great books on different subjects. I had planned to go out on the town, but found myself reading some of the books in the cozy reading room instead, and I didn’t regret it at all. The room décor was not to my taste (kind of Hollywood glam), but it was extremely comfortable. The mattress and pillows were perfect, not too hard or soft, but just right. The floors had radiated heat which was lovely, especially in the bathroom which included a nice large tub! I can’t speak to the food in the hotel restaurant because we opted for a more casual dinner a few doors down. In retrospect I wish we had dined at the hotel because the food at the pub was underwhelming, especially if you like to eat healthily.

The Ambassade is one of the most wonderful hotels I have had the pleasure of spending time. It will be my go to hotel and the hotel I will recommend to anyone traveling to Amsterdam. The rooms are both elegant and charming. The bathrooms are spectacular with the best tub/shower I have ever experienced. The staff was always courteous and helpful. The food was beautifully prepared and delicious. I cannot wait to return!

I loved the location...if youre coming to amsterdam this is a wonderful gem to spend a few nights in. Room 12 offers a 2 level view of the canal. The breakfast was top class and the staff was professional, pleasant and informative. I felt like i was priority, and im sure all other guests would say the same! Keep up the great work! Would definitely stay again.

Ambassade is an excellent hotel in so many ways - staff are exceptional and the public facilities are very good . However a word of warning- suite 11 is in an adjoining house- only an issue if it’s raining and you have to put on wet weather gear. The much more significant issue is the bedroom is upstairs via a very tight steep circular staircase and the bathroom is downstairs- this arrangement is problematic for older visitors and those with limited mobility .

Plan to have to pick up your luggage. Even thought they have an elevator, you still have stairs getting to the room, and we even had 2 stairs in our room. However, overall this was a perfect place to stay. Clean room, great staff & service, convenient & walkable.

Amazing property in a quite, beautiful section of the canal district - right in The Nine Streets (De 9 Straatjes) area. We had a king sized bed with a canal view, room was beautiful - sizeable but a bit tight with luggage. Central location was perfect for a convenient landing spot after long days walking. Everything was clean and well maintained, excellent staff.

A delightful hotel AND staff
We had a wonderful stay at the Ambassade Hotel in Amsterdam. We stayed in room 64 which was a spacious room over looking the canal. The room was on the second floor which is accessed by a very narrow and steep spiral staircase. We were helped with our luggage so this wasn’t a problem but if you have a hard time with stairs than this room may not be the best option. The middle windows completely open up to allow fresh air in. We arranged the chairs and enjoyed the scenery and listened to music. We took advantage of booking a private 2 hour art and history tour of the city with Eduard which was absolutely delightful. One morning we had breakfast at the hotel which offered continental style items as well as hot items which could be ordered ala carte. We also had 7pm reservations for dinner at the brasserie but we were regretfully disappointed because they informed us that the daily special was no longer available, which was odd because we were one of the first tables to be seated that evening. We chose the Hake as a substitute but after 90 mins we still weren’t served. In the meantime we did have the Terrine starter which was amazing as well as the Basil Smash as an apertif. Unfortunately though we never did get our main entree and left hungry two hours later.

The staff was very helpful in all aspects. One of our party was ill and the staff helped us with a thermometer and anything else necessary to accommodate us. Top notch. We were back on our feet traveling in no time!

Historic & Quaint with all the touches
What a great stay from beginning to end. We were surprised with a bottle of wine in our room as we were celebrating or 25th Anniversary. All the staff every moment were friendly & exceptionally helpful. The hotel is historic & ever so charming in a great location. Walkable everywhere. Extra spaces to sit & read or play chess with a cocktail was perfect. Would definitely stay again.

Although we have stayed at the Ambassade twice before, this visit wowed us the most. Because my luggage didn't arrive when I did, both Lottie and Derek made several calls to Schipol when I didn't have any luck getting it. They persisted for days with a SMILE! Those two people behind the desk made a terrible situation much, much less terrible and were very impressive.

The hotel is very pretty, clean with excellent service and near the city center. The bar is very pretty and with excellent service. Definitely will come back.

Wonderful hotel with as much charm as promised by the canal-side photos. Great original artwork, curated and documented,on every wall in the building. Everything was excellent, but the staff really made the stay great. And I put them to work. Due to last minute booking in an essentially full hotel with many bookable room types, I had to change rooms several time -- and they made that easy. And all three rooms were excellent, btw.

Stayed at the hotel several times over the years and it is charming, in a beautiful location, is very clean, has really great and very helpful staff, and is situated in a lovely area. Unfortunately, the beds and chairs in the rooms we've occupied over the years really need some serious sprucing up. Mattresses are sagging such that a night guarantees waking up with a sore back or when sits down in the room chairs, one almost sits on the wood frame. For $400 a night I expect a lot more.
