Conscience and cheap, but very basic

This is a basic hostel and a little bit crowd. Breakfast is basic but they have microwave and hot water. Its location is good near by many bars and restaurants, also Van Gogh museum is in a walking distant. But you cannot get the battery in room so need to charge your mobile in lobby. And haven't individual lamp in your bed.

Mission > intention of doing nothing - ACHIEVED

Posted Nov 20, 2015 on Hotels
I was looking to get away and have a few relaxing days at my pace. Instead of the usual hectic everything happening pub crawl / tour organising places I have stayed in Amsterdam in the past, I went here. If you want a break where you can go at your own pace this is a place to consider. Just remember that this is not the quiet part of Amsterdam in the evening so don't expect to get to bed early. Cheap and cheerful, what more do you want for the price?

Late July 2015

The hostel was in a great part of Amsterdam close to everything. That's the best thing I can say about the hostel. I stayed in a dorm with about 10 beds and it was always hot and a bit muggy in the room. Opening the window helped a bit, but because of the central location there was a lot of noise. The beds are bunk beds with no ladders which means that the only way to climb to the top bunk is to jump and pull up. This is a great way to shake the bed and wake whoever is on the bottom bunk. It also doesn't help that the beds are close together and quite small which means you might end up kicking or being kicked by someone in a bed close to yours. The hostel staff was okay but not particularly friendly. Also, they don't tell you before hand that there are no lockers, but when you get there, the staff pretends that it is normal not to have lockers available. I'm not sure if other dorms have them, but the 10 bed dorm where I stayed did not have any. This was very inconvenient for storing valuables. The bathroom was musty, with mold visibly growing in some areas. For some reason there was also very little light in the shower area. Overall, the people who stayed at the hostel when I was there were really laid back. I found all of the guests really respectful of other guests and also friendly. I stayed at this hostel because of the price and location. It was okay for a short stay, but not the most comfortable place.
