Convenient apartment near downtown AmsterdamPosted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: The balcony is right over the canal, beautiful view but can see apartments across. Supermarket, drug stores, street market and coffee shops nearby.
Cons: There were no utensils and no air-conditioning. Need to open the balcony door but there were mosquitoes. Need more toilet papers and hand soaps.
This is a very tidy and comfortable apartment near the city core where some major attractions such as NEMO Science Centre, Dam, Madame Tussauds, Oude Kerk, Central Station are all within walking distance. We picked up the keys from a friendly fellow named Matthias who gave us a tour of the apartment. There was a manual that explain how to use the appliances but unfortunately the words on the appliances are in Dutch so it was a challenge to use the washing machine and the dryer. If you are from Canada or the US, you need to bring a transformer in order to use some electronic devices such as the curling iron or charge your phone. Because there was no utensils and not enough toilet papers and hand soaps (since we stayed for 5 days), we ended up buying those in the nearby supermarket and drug stores. The apartment has two huge TVs and free Wifi and it is a quiet neighbourhood. You can see beautiful sunsets in the balcony, very romantic. By the way, you must bring an umbrella with you at all time because the sun and rain can come and go. Overall, this is a very comfortable and modern apartment for a family of four.

This is NOT a hotel..its an apartmentPosted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: Spacious, comfortable, great location
Cons: They need to address the holy fob issue and make it more obvious to web users that its not a hotel.
Location: Everything. Its close to the center and is a very cool place.
Keep in mind this is not a hotel but an apartment with no maid service and no front desk or staff,. If you do not arrange a meeting with the "landlords" you will be waiting for them as there is no way to obviously communicate with them. They will then meet you, give you the keys and charge you a deposit of 500 dollars or so for damages. That said it is in a great location and very spacious and comfortable as its an apartment. But the key fob, if parking, is silly. They will tell you to leave it in the room as they do not want it lost. I don't know about you but there is no way..in gods green earth....I would EVER go to the parking deck. Take the car out with the fob. Park the car on the street, walk back in, and leave the fob there. Seriously. Who the heck would do that? Maybe if your European you understand it...but as for my barbaric american ways..forget it. I will just take the fob with me. Other than the unexpected surprise that it was more of an apartment rental..it was a great room. Just be prepared and plan ahead. Booking it via mobile app was a hassle.
