No-show by the owners, shabby & out of town.

We arrived early & sat outside the boat owners house, overlooking the boat - there was no reply at the door. We waited & waited - a man looked at us, entered the boat & left with another chap in a hurry without speaking with us..... Book-in time came & went and nobody else arrived. So, some time after the agreed arrival time, we left, with our suitcases, to trapse around Amsterdam looking for alternative accomidation. The boat itself looked in slightly shabby condition & the area it was in felt poor; moored on a very unnattractive part of the canal in front of what looked like high-rise social housing blocks. The location itself is quite a way from the main parts of Amsterdam; the alledged closeness to Museumplein is misleading. Dont be beguiled by the photos - that isnt where the boat is moored. So in summary, an awful waste of our precious holiday time, but given the location & the look of the place, probably for the good. Avoid.

Westlandgracht Canal Boat

Posted Mar 5, 2012
We were met by a nice local to show us round who provided us with wine beer and soft drinks as a house warming present. Nice quiet location and close to a tram stop that took us into the city centre. You can feed the ducks too! Clean and warm, close to supermarket bakery and pizza place. Coffee machine, microwave and dishwasher however no hob or oven - not a problem to us as we ate out or used the microwave, so be advised! Great city would come again and would stay here again.

Dutch Canal Boat in Amsterdam

The boat was awesome, I would definitely recommend this rental. Everything was lovely, the room, the bathroom, the salon and of course, the view! The owner was very kind also and the boat is very closed to the supermarket or the Tram (line 2) so we could go to the city centre very quickly. There is also a huge and beautiful park (Vondelpark) a few minute by wallk.
