Wonderful staff, great location, beautiful hotel!

Pros: Everything!
Cons: No, not really.
Location: Fantastic location, conceirge recommended superb restaurants near by.
Room was ready at check-in. Beautiful restored building. Room was very quiet which is very important to me. Room was a tad warm, no air conditioning due to the age 1901 of the building, my window would not open, so the staff brought me a large fan, which made sleeping bearable.

Great hotel near central train station

Loved this hotel. Very old building, extremely easy walk to central Amsterdam & train station, complimentary drinks in room, very nice staff who are extremely helpful & gracious!

Very unusual hotel full of character and history.

Arrived at 7am and stored our bags for a day of exploring . Our room overlooked the canal and was beautiful! Very well equipped room with very comfortable bed. It was a great location very close to the train station , trams and ships and a short tram ride to all galleries and museums. Check out was very early the next morning and the manager was very helpful getting us a cab and sending us off with a newspaper for our flight. Thanks!

Beautiful but hot and noisy

Gran Art Deco style building with lost of character and a very attentive staff. However, it lacks A/C due its historical characteristics and construction outside starts early and is very noisy. Even during mid spring days it was very stuffy. While I am not dissatisfied, I personally prefer more "Phillip Stark" style of properties. On site bike rental and very friendly staff is a plus. It offers a well appointed spa - but I didn't use.

I’m pleased to see that you were happy with the bike rental and our friendly staff! We sincerely regret to learn about your experience with the construction outside of our hotel. I do wish that you would have alerted the staff of this matter during your stay as we would have been more than happy to relocate you to another room where you would have been more comfortable. As we aim to provide our guests with nothing less than a five star level service we are very sorry to hear that we did not achieve this at the time. We have talked to the constructor immediately about the too early start. As for your comment on the missing airconditioning. We do have is a climate control system which circulates and refreshes the air but does indeed not cool it. In the case that our guests experience discomfort because of the temperature in their room, we offer standing fans upon request. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. This way we can make sure that other guests do not experience the same negative experience as you have had. I would like to offer my apologies for these unfortunate experiences, we are sorry that your stay with us has left a negative impression on you. As the satisfaction of our customers is our priority, we hope that you will consider giving us a second chance to regain your trust, and prove to you that we are able to deliver our esteemed guests with the 5 star level experience that so many have come to love throughout the years. The best hotel room I have ever seen

The hotel building is a beautiful European architecture. The room is so big and wonderful, and the ceiling is so high. A classic! It's definitely worth the money, about $450 a night.

Beautiful hotel in a great central location

Pros: Huge comfortable bed, great shower, large bathroom
Cons: Extra mugs for tea (nespresso cups a little small for herbal tea bags)
Location: Great central location for walking, trams, buses - easy to get to all visitor attractions
Friendly staff, clean and very comfortable rooms, great in room freebies (nespresso, wine, water)

Great hotel!

Staff friendly and efficient. We upgraded and our room was clean and comfortable. Free mini bar a definite bonus! Good location for visiting old town with good variety of restaurants nearby.

Was everything we hoped

We read up carefully before booking and weren't disappointed. The concierge made brilliant recommendations for the three dinners we had. We had a mid-sized room and the separate bath tub shower tub was great. My only issue is that the closet space was so small we had to leave our clothes in our suitcase. Deifiniey would go back
