next to cruise terminal, close to central train

Posted Jul 24, 2017
Pros: Location to cruise ship and train access.
Cons: faster check-in.
Location: All of city central is accessible via tram across the street.
Check in time was 3 pm, tried to check-in at 2:45 but room not ready. Was ready at 3 PM sharp though.

Large room with great views of the river and city

Posted Jul 13, 2017
Pros: Very comfortable room, large comfy bed. Great black out curtains and quiet room so we were able to get really great nights sleep.
Cons: Coffee/milk were not refreshed after the first night, reception gave us more but seemed reluctant which we felt was unnecessary. Expensive breakfast.
Location: Hotel is not right in the centre but is only a short walk. There are limited places to eat very close to the hotel. Close to the train station.
We stayed for 3 nights. The room was an executive room and was spacious with a settee and large window to make the most of the view. Staff were helpful.

Great view and close to the central train station. Room was big, large enough for three adults to be comfortable.

Great hotel for a few days exploring Amsterdam.

Posted Jul 9, 2017
Slightly out of the centre but only a short cycle ride or walk. Good facilities, helpful staff and quiet as it's not right in the centre. Would stay here again. Coffee machine and complimentary mini bar was a pleasant addition.

Pros: The staff and views
Cons: Very basic toiletries, no shampoo had to ask for shower cap, tissues not refilled to full and ran out, as did black tea, only 1 glass
Location: At central station everything available Edam amazing, loads of museums in Amsterdam,Marken pretty and canal trip a must
Hotel very pleasant, but our room was not cleaned regularly throughout, with dust around the tv and edges of the carpet, especially at the back of the beds, one day glasses not washed another beds not properly made. We did ask for more dusting via a note to houskeeping, note removed, but not dust!... No check before we occupied, so lack of toiletries in the bathroom and toilet was dirty. Blocked bathroom sink...Hotel staff helpful in all areas and very friendly. If arriving by train and tram, a dangerous short walk with a suitcase avoiding cyclists, cars and trams! Lovely views and a pleasant bar/restaurant on the ground floor.

Very comfortable

Posted Jul 7, 2017
Pros: Great view, very comfortable room.
Cons: Would have used it for breakfast if it was not so expensive
Location: 20 minute walk to centre of Amsterdam, we used the trams a lot. Lots to do, we enjoyed the Anne Frank House, Rijksmuseum, Zaanse Schans (windmills)
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. It seems to be used a lot by cruise passengers. It was very busy at time. We found the staff were really friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our luggage in a secure room on our first day so that we could explore Amsterdam unencumbered. Our room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was nice, the whole room was of a high standard. The best thing was the view of the Ij which was breathtaking. I can honestly say that I slep better here than at any other hotel I can remember! We didn't use any of the facilities during our stay apart from the bicycle hire, so can't comment on those. The only down side is that the hotel is slightly out of town, I would say a 20 minute walk from the centre of Amsterdam, which was a drag at times, but also meant that it was quiet - I don't think I would have wanted to stay in the centre as it was very busy and full of hustle and bustle at this time of year.

Nice hotel with excellent location

Posted Jul 6, 2017
Great stay at Movenpick Amsterdam. Ten minutes walking from central station and city center. Nice waterfront view from the hotel room. Hotel shuttle to central station is a plus. We also purchased the GVB pass and canal cruise ticket ( cheaper than outside) through the hotel's concierge. We booked two rooms, and was allowed early check in for one of the room, which was really great.

Nice hotel by cruise ship terminal

Posted Jul 5, 2017
Pros: Close to cruise ship terminal and train station. Room was very clean and nicely appointed. Very good quality towels, toilet paper and kleenex.
Cons: pillows were too soft. A top sheet would be nice to have as the comforter was too warm to use.
Location: sightseeing
Movenpick hotel is a very short walk from the cruise ship terminal in Amsterdam and about a 10 min walk to the Central Train station. They offer a free shuttle to the train station where you can get a train to Schipol Airport for 5 euros per person. The hotel is very clean and tastefully decorated. There is access available to 2 laptops and a printer in the business area. All staff speak English very well so there is no issue communicating. Breakfast buffet is available but is extremely over-priced at 25 euros per person. We had dinner in the bar area and the food was delicious. Again very pricey but not as bad as the main restaurant. For sightseeing, the City Hop On Hop Off is a good choice and including the boat option was 28 euros per person for a 24 hour pass. Got a good room price through expedia. Overall a very nice hotel and we would recommend staying there.
