The staff were lovely comfortable beds and good size rooms great location but a very dated old hotel and. Not bar is big downside if you want to have a drink or two but you can bring your own! General decor needs updating bathrooms very small

Lovely hotel
Lovely hotel , really clean , really friendly staff, comfiest bed I’ve slept in! Could have done with a little fridge and maybe a toaster to make toast in the morning , we had access to a kettle but we needed milk but had no fridge to be able to store it, but overall amazing hotel would definitely recommend!

This hotel was lovely. The staff was very friendly and the location was perfect. The view to Oostenpark is gorgeous. I would definitely stay here again.

Staff were helpful. Room was agreeable, heating good, bed was comfortable, good shower, great tv (BBC1 and BBC2). Bathroom basin was clogged with hair which made the water slow to empty but that was the only fault. Great location - Tram14 direct from city centre. Overall well worth the money.

Tropen hotel review in Amsterdam
Not much to look at from the outside but lovely inside. Nice clean room. Lots of relaxing areas on the ground floor. Breakfast was great. Staff really friendly and healpful. Close to trams and local shops. Will definitely stay there again if i visit amsterdam again. Was really nice to wake up overlooking the park and tropen museum. The tropen cafe is lovely and right next door if you want are looking for somewhere to get a nice coffee and lunch.

Nice room....Disappointing breakfast.
Easy to get to the hotel, a few minutes walking from the tram stop and then only a 10-15 minute tram ride back into the central areas. A good base in a nice neighbourhood next to a lovely park and museum. Checking took about 15 minutes, no rush, whilst the 2 ladies on the desk continued their leisurely chat in Dutch in front of us knowing we dont speak it, which I consider rude. The lady serving us informed us that breakfast is served until 11am in the morning and we can charge to our room if we decide to try it. Then she told us the wrong floor for our room. Once we eventually made it to our room this was ok. Dusty, no where to hang your wet coat, no mirror to use whilst using straighteners.... but ok. Comfy bed. Good shower. Went for breakfast at 10.15am after a good nights sleep, left hanging around with no staff coming to seat us so I asked at reception how it works in there....only to be told we had missed breakfast. Turns out its actually served until 10am Mon -Fri and 11am Sat & Sun. Great. We did try it on Saturday and I assume that unless your the first ones in there to get it nice and freshly cooked at 7am then the hot items are left to shrivel under a heat lamp all morning and don't get replenished very often. Plenty of choice on the continental options but for €12.50 you also expect a good hot selection. So yes, it could be a very good hotel but needs a few little extras here & there, and more attentive staff, so a bit disappointing in some aspects.

At the moment we do have some interns that learn the tasks of the receptionist, perhaps they did not inform you that they were explaining the procedures to improve our services. For the breakfast I am sorry that you were misinformed about the breakfast times, we strive to leave minimal waste so after certain times, we do not refill the items and you can ask our staff to prepare it directly for you. Laid back hotel in a green setting
The hotel staff were very accommodating. The hotel is very laid back and has a very artistic vibe. The breakfast is not extensive bit very adequate and of a good quality would certainly stay again.

It was easy to get to. It's location was very good with a nice park to chill in next to it. The bed was ideal for me had a good rest. The breakfast was worth getting as well

Lovely hotel very clean, polite staff and in a location with good transport links. The only let down was the pipes in the rooms were very noisy, had to get ear plugs and there are not electric plugs by the bed.

Good hotel overloking the Park and museum. Nice quite area. Five min walk to tram stop. 30 minute walk to old town. Bars and restraunts and supermarkets short walk across the road.

The hotel is quite well located near the tram but facilities wise are far from expected. Hotel is basically not more than 2 stars!!! No fridge. Bathroom is quite small. Disappointing for the price I paid.

Architecture of building is vintage but decor is a little dated and lacking. Bed is comfortable enough, bathroom has separated toilet and shower - both small and awkward. Amenities are minimal. Location is a long walk from city. Nice staff but poor WiFi service.

Fair stay at a good price
We had a reasonable pleasant stay once we got out of the twin room. The double we moved to was much better. The two single beds in the twin room were impossible! Double room was good. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Good location for a hotel central enough but not noisy at night. A pleasant area and good for transport. The bar area needs a re-think (and a bar man). Much more could be done with a bit of imagination and a lovely space. And it could make you money!!
