This was in a sketchy area downtown, next to a deserted lot - which was my view after booking the king suite with city view room - my room was on the second floor which was about 5 steps above ground level. There was no AC and the curtains did not black out. NOTHING like the photos or description. Do not recommend.

We're sorry you were unhappy. Our property is in a typical location in downtown Anchorage. We are located between 2 large chain hotels. Our property was built decades ago in Alaska therefore A/C units were not installed as standard. Curtains we use are actually labeled as "black out". The use of the term "city view" is the option expedia uses for the most appropriate for our property. We believe we have the best value for the price here in downtown anchorage.
Service at check in was horrible. The hotel is very dated. Service at checkout was excellent. Had the service been that good throughout, I would have been more tolerant of the facility.

It is a small hotel in downtown Anchorage, the person who help us was very nice but the place is not in good condition
We stayed in this “boutique” hotel as it calls itself after flying 9.5 hours to get to Alaska. We pulled up to the hotel and couldn’t believe how bad it looked. My wife wanted to go somewhere else. I went in and the girl at check-in who was very nice let me look at the room before doing anything else. This place is looks like it was more of a boarding house where somehow they shoe horned in a bathroom. There were no chairs to sit in because the room was too small. The bathroom was so small the sink was only about 18 inches wide, no place to set any of your things. The tub had mold on it where it met the floor and wall. We were dead tired and so was the room. Wouldn’t stay there again.

I liked how tall the shower head was to cater to tall people. I liked the area that the hotel was in by a park. I liked the comfortable bed and the price. The picture of the hotel should be updated because it must have been painted recently. I suggest that a flyer should be at the airport. I called several hotels at the airport that were over $200 before I went to expedia to find your hotel at 9pm at night.

The building is old, breakfast was a disappointment, location is close to everything in downtown, which is good. Free parking is good. I think the hotel is overpriced. the staff is excellent, they were all friendly.

We stayed here for one night when Anchorage was experiencing a heatwave. The room was small and stifling. We just couldn't breathe. Luckily they had a larger, cooler room which they moved us to - they were very helpful and sympathetic.

Thank you for the feedback. Most buildings built in Anchorage do not have A/C and we are a very small hotel built decades ago and it was a record setting heatwave we not seen before. We are glad we were able to move you to an upgraded room.

ADH
The best thing about the hotel was that it was such a miserable place that we left as soon as we woke up and didn’t return until we were ready for bed. We saw a lot more of Anchorage than we night have if the hotel had been nicer and conducive to relaxing.

Extremely small rooms, queen bed was a full at the most, no AC, windows were old and fogging and my city view was the parking lot. $170 a night and I was completely disappointed!

The room was cozy, and a bit hot and stuffy inside but it did the job. Only problem we really had was that the comforter had what we think was blood or some other nasty mark on it. When I called the front desk they asked if I wanted a new one...of course I want a new one. A new CLEAN one.

The curtains did not cover the windows very well. Window was stuck in the open position. And, the wi-fi was so slow that I was never able to get past my home page. They should not say that they offer wi-fi because it is so slow that it is not functional. TV was kluge at best.

Convenient to downtown. Rooms are a bit dated, could use a paint job. Upgrade the TV package to include more channels.

Thank you for staying with us Gary. We apologize for the continental breakfast not meeting your expectations. We just opened our doors for guests a few days before your stay with us and hope to improve all aspects of our guest experiences. We are appreciative of the great review you gave our staff. Thank you very much. -ADH
Hotel is in a good location and staff are friendly. Facilities are very old. The city views weren't there and our queen bed turned out to be a double bed. The website mentioned a complimentary shuttle bus from the airport but this was not available. Suitable place for one or 2 nights due to location.
Reserved but did not receive a non-smoking room. The one we got had a large window that opened onto the hallway. Barely enough room to get around the bed.
This building is a quiet corner of downtown anchorage. Small hotel now being managed by a different team. Rooms are neat and clean. Offers breakfast. No elevator on property and rooms are dorm factor almost. Our room had 2 queens and a sofa futon which worked fine for us. Room Carpets may need additional steam cleaning.
The parking lot is dark no lights, too many stairs, smell wet carpet, smell smoke.

Larry,
Why didn't you talk to us about this issue when you were at the hotel so that we could have responded. Parking lot is always lighted up, the carpet is never wet and are not aware of smoke smell. It would have helped if you would have informed us right away, rather than writing here. Anyway, sorry!!
This room should be valued at $100 - $125 a night, not $277. Beds 1 & 2 are hard and bed 3 was like concrete. Except for the TV cables dangling from the wall the room was tidy and had clean linens.
I wouldn't stay here again. Girl was pleasant at check in. Sent my husband around corner to park to entrance that was closed by construction, which she wasn't aware of. Handle on bathroom door falling off. Bathroom sink faucet was also falling off. Room was clean. Free breakfast was pitiful so we skipped it and had a delicious breakfast at the White Spot Cafe.
Our room did not have a functioning lock on the door. The employee told me that I was to use the flip safety latch. When I tried this, the screws came out of the wall and the latch came off completely. He then moved me to another room that had the same problem. Finally, I moved furniture in front of the door to feel safe. Other elements of the room were also in poor condition. The toilet paper holder had fallen down and the broken hardware was still attached to the wall. Cable didn’t work.

I remember the incident! I upgraded you to our Superior Queen room- the only one that was available. I helped you move your heavy luggage to your room. I am sorry about the latch and the toilet paper holder!! We had to call GCI, the cable guys to fix the problem you have caused when trying to on the TV. The TV was functioning well until you messed up the wiring. Next time, if there is a next time, please call the hotel staff to come and help you to on the TV if you are unable to do so!!!
Thanks and Regards,
Nad, Team Leader
The hotel cancelled our reservation even after confirming because they went up in price and gave my room to a higher bidder is what they told me. How this is ethical, I don’t know. So we had to feverishly find other accommodations because they were unsympathetic to us. All for more money in their pockets.

No Isabell, we did not cancel your reservation, and on the contrary we held the room until you or Expedia cancelled it. The other room which had booking for six guests, we requested to pay $20.00 for the extra four guest and you all have decided to cancel it.
Thanks and regards,
Nad
Sign on front said no smoking. When you check in it says an additional charge for cleaning if you smoke in room.
Our room stunk like smoke!!! Hotel is very outdated and old.
Would never stay there!

If you are on a budget.
The staff was very pleasant. There are no elevators in this three story building. I had to ask for pillowcases. Broken floor heater in bathroom. Drywall bubbling in bathroom. Only a table on one side of the bed. No deadbolt on door.
The hotel was in a good location but in terrible shape and dirty. There were sections of ceiling missing and one of the rooms we booked was missing toilet paper and in fact didn't even have a toilet paper hotel. Pay the extra money and stay somewhere nicer.
Having arrived at 9pm, it was too late to do anything but stay the night. The room stunk; even spraying it with fabreeze supplied by the receptionist did not help. The entrance carpets were filthy and stained.
Couldnt wait to get out of there.

Good value for downtown
Great location and cost. Very basic, no frills place. Room cleaning was apparently random and had to frequently asked for packs of coffee at the front desk. Nice friendly staff though.
