Maybe Mildew, Maybe Mold

We got to the hotel and there was some confusion about our room. They kept asking if we were sure that we booked a room with a king sized bed. We told the front desk staff that we did, and they said that it was weird because they didn't have any available. Check-in was at 3PM and we got there around 4:30PM. They attempted to contact someone from their housekeeping staff to ask if they could turn any of their king rooms. Luckily, someone promptly answered and they said it would be a moment for someone to clean the room. We sat in the lobby area for 15 minutes waiting for a room.
Our room just needed a DEEP cleaning. Carpet was worn with stains. Paint/ furniture/appliances were dilapidated. There were no fans in the restroom or bedroom, and you could not control the temperature. The only thing you could control was the radiator by the window for heat. The window air conditioner didn't work (probably shut off for the winter time). Our room was HOT, so we turned off our radiator and opened the window. When doing so, we noticed a significant amount of mold/mildew in the corners of the windows. In the night time our noses and ears were interrupted with the smell of smoke from other floors and noises from late-night-bar hoppers and barking from pets.
The bed itself was not very comfortable. It was a king, but you could feel every spring and edge.

Thanks so much for your feedback. We are an older building that is in the process of being updated, and we do realize we have limitations but I hope you were able to enjoy your stay otherwise. The team here has created a plan for this springs deep cleaning and your feedback will be a great training opportunity for our staff. Please come back and see the changes we are making for yourself if you find yourself in Anchorage again.
