One Night Stay Before Flight HomePosted Aug 24, 2015 on Hotels
We took the train from Seward and stayed one night at the hotel before flying home the next day. Location was very convenient for both the railroad and the airport. Too bad they don't offer shuttle services considering the price. Breakfast was yummy, but not included. Every service provider at the hotel was excellent! The room was spacious and comfortable.

The friendly staff makes this hotel worth it!Posted Aug 20, 2015
Pros: The friendly staff, the view,
Cons: Maid service was a bit lax
Location: downtown Anchorage, central to everything, easy walk to restaurants, shopping and attractions.
Generally, on vacation, I've come to expect at least a couple of rude employees at hotels. But, I'm happy to report that my stay at the Marriott Anchorage exceeded my expectations! Every employee was pleasant, happy, and seemed interested in making my stay enjoyable. The employees at Marriott really made this trip for me!

It's just okPosted Aug 15, 2015
Pros: The bar area and bar snack menu
Cons: Internet in rooms at no extra charge, beds need to be much better.
It's in an ok location close to most of anchorage attractions to walk. The rooms are dated, and the beds are not as big or as comfortable as this price tag would suggest they should be. Internet is only free in the lobby you have to pay to use it in your room - in 6 weeks of travelling through Canada and the USA often staying in much cheaper but well appointed accomodation and even camping in an RV for one week everywhere else yes camp sites included offered free internet except this hotel!

Comfortable and Relaxing StayPosted Aug 6, 2015 on Hotels
Booked the room for the day after a cruise and before a late night flight. It was very comfortable and perfect; especially since the cruise line dropped us off right at the hotel. Had a view of the park where they were flying kites all day...it was lovely!

Bait and switch!Posted Jul 31, 2015
Pros: Liked everything about the hotel, I stay in Marriott hotels over any other hotel if possible..... Expedia is the one that lied to me.
Cons: Expedia can stop advertising false rates.
Ok, I booked a room thru Expedia for one night at Marriott Anchorage Downtown, Expedia sent me an email confirmation for $273.65 to be collected by the hotel. After my stay I received the hotel receipt that showed I paid $380.74! Now I'm on the phone with Expedia customer service and they are giving me the runaround and not wanting to be responsible for the email confirmation. Ok after I explained over and over the numbers and that I wanted them to call Marriott, they now tell me to contact the hotel directly and fax my Expedia confirmation to them and Marriott will issue a correction. We will see if this is true......

Worst Stay of My LifePosted Jul 21, 2015 on Hotels
And 20+ years I have never stayed in a filthier room. Shower was dirty and included a damp washcloth. Toilet had not been cleaned after what I can only assume was a festival of diarrhea the night before. Coffee filter hadn't been changed and had mold growing on it. I have much more to say but I'd start cursing...
