Worst hotel ever.Posted Sep 1, 2015
Location: Located in a bad neighborhood back off in a corner. 2 freeways intersect. Very loud.
Checked in, only to find out the room I reserved was not available; Then was told (after I paid super high price), that I had to leave a 100.00 cash deposit. The room had such a bad smell, made me sick. The next morning the staff was a bit confused. Gave me a reciet for my nights stay that was $40.00 cheaper than I paid. Then was told Expedia must have overcharged me and to get a receipt from them. Finally got my 100.00 back. Bad all the way around.

cheap for a reasonPosted Aug 16, 2015
We needed a cheap place with a kitchenette...so stayed here. Found 2 of 4 stove burners did not work, there were no dish soap, scrubbies, or dish towels. We had to forage for bathing towels as only two were offered although our reservation was for four people. The room smelled like an ashtray. The building was once a nice set up. Each room has a balcony, there are lovely trees on the grounds. However, cheap and easy is a great way to explain it. It's not filthy, just old. Nothing fancy.

The room was reserved on-line for two days, but was given away while we were out. Our belongings were piled into a plastic bag. After sorting out the mixup, we were given another room, ostensibly better, however there was little to suggest that was the case. Both rooms had black hair around the bathroom and tub, burn marks on the tub from cigarettes, presumably, dirty carpets and bed spreads, If it weren't for the fact that this place was the last resort for staying in town, we would never have booked it. Very nice daytime desk manager.

Had to move my employee to a hotel 50 miles away from Anchorage due to bugs!

Noisy, old and smellyPosted Jun 27, 2015 on Hotels
I knew the hotel wasn't very nice, because I used to live in Anchorage. But I booked it because it was one of the cheapest I could find for that week. It turned out to be a very bad decision. It is obvious the hotel is not using the money from the high room rates to upgrade the hotel. And it appears to be a place out of town Alaska Natives frequent, because there were a lot of them there. Anticipating the possibility of a smelly room, I borrowed my Mom's diffuser to diffuse some essential oils into the room, and that helped. But the second night was Saturday night and a large group of Natives decided they would use that night and that hotel to try and solve all of their personal problems out on the patio of their room. They debated many issues and people, loudly and to no conclusion, while drinking heavily. I admire their stamina, as they kept it up vigorously until 5 am. At no time did I hear anyone from the hotel staff arrive to inform them of the inappropriateness of their activities. The room itself has potential. It was large with big windows and a private deck. It had a full functional kitchen from the 70's, complete with stove, microwave, sink, and coffee maker. Very minimal dishware and flatware, also from the 70's. Maybe 60's. Later that morning, I checked out AirBnB and found a nice room in South Anchorage, and checked out of a hotel Hotels.com should never have listed.

No Ventilation, Room not as advertisedPosted Jun 22, 2015
Cons: Add ventilation to the rooms! Move the outdoor furniture out of the middle of the room!
The room had NO ventilation. There was no air conditioner, the thermostat was broken and the windows were sealed shut. The balcony door faced directly to the freeway, had no screen, and let in the full nighttime sunlight, so it could not be left open. We could not sleep because it was so hot. There were several outdoor balcony chairs taking up the middle of the room, but the door could not be opened wide enough to put them outside. The room was advertised as 2 queen beds, but had only doubles and I was told there were no queen bed rooms in the whole hotel. The check in clerk was rude and told me they had been having a lot of trouble with Expedia and it was unlikely my pre-paid reservation would work, and since their system was down she could not check.

Hotel close to highway noise.Posted Jun 14, 2015
Cons: Tear it down and start over.
Location: Right next to to Seward Highway
Hotel was well past its prime and poorly maintained. Glad we only needed it for one night. The price was low, but so was the quality.
