Booked 8 mos in advance for king bed. Got 2 doubles or queens not sure. Stained carpet, broken shower. No space.

So disappointed with this hotel. Thought, considering what it cost, we would b in a large room with a king bed that we reserved 8 mos. in advance. Nope. Small room 2 double beds, shower head falling off. No complimentary lotion, shampoo and body wash in dispenser on the wall. No breakfast in the morning.

Super Staff

Hotel is in a great location downtown. Staff is super helpful with recommendations for restaurants, activities and transportation. Hotel and rooms are nothing fancy but very clean and comfortable. Ours had a great balcony and we could even see the water. The hotel restaurant serves a great buffet breakfast and serves Starbucks coffees.

Pros: Hotel was right in the middle of Archorage.
Cons: Don't overcharge some people. Update the rooms.
We were overcharged for our stay. More than others paid.

not what I was expecting

it's nice that this hotel is down town and you can walk around easily, but we had nothing but problems. we stayed here for our honeymoon and we were very disappointed! we asked for a fridge for our room since it was a long stay, and it never got cold. then we swapped it with a New one -- same problem. the heater/air conditioner didn't work and the hot water in the shower lasted about 5 minutes. for the money we paid to stay there for so long we were expecting much more.

Needs updating. Ok to stay in a pinch

Pros: Proximity to downtown and restaurants.
Cons: Needs MAJOR updating of guest rooms (towels, linens, pillows, carpeting, furniture).
Location: Great restaurants, train station
They have a STRICT policy about 3pm check-in. Room had a very strong perfume odor to it. Can't open balcony doors (they are bolted shut), so had to crank the ac to high and 60 degrees. Took about four hours to go away. Comforter ad air on it, as did the blanket. My room had a flat screen, but others in my party had the old fashioned tube TV sets. Restaurant food was good, but expensive. Front desk staff upon check-in was not very knowledgable about services in the area (grocery, pharmacy, etc). You could hear a lot of street noise (rm 201). The carpet was heavily stained and the desk chair was VERY uncomfortable. This used to be better. I'd stay here every year when I came up for the Iditarod. So disappointed to see that it has slid to at best a 2 1/2 star property.

I loved having a balcony and getting the fresh air and seeing the city. The staff were so polite and very very helpful. I would definately stay here again.

We love staying at the Westmark. It's in walking distance to slot of great entertainment & it was first Friday art walk!!
