"Great hotel, excellent location for getting around"
Located in the hutongs between 2 subways this hotel is great for getting around Beijing easily. From the airport get the subway to yongechong lama temple temple and take exit c turn left out of here and walk down the road, cross over at confuscus temple and keep down the same road. Fangia hutong is on the right a short way down. The hotel is quite a walk up there and the entrance is after a library type bar on the right. The bar owners around there will help if you can't find it, it's through some large gates. The hotel staff speak a little English but the manager is very helpful. The breakfasts are good value for £2, they have toast, eggs, fruit, yoghurt and Chinese. Explore the area there are some great sights! The rooms are quite small but very clean and well stocked with water and toiletries. The towels are very soft and the bed linen excellent. I would definitely stay there again.

"At $25 p/night, comfortable stay in great location"
Overall, my experience here was comfortable enough, considering the incredible price I paid. I can't complain about the smell of smoke indoors, the low flow shower & toilet, the lumpy bed, or that the sheets weren't changed during my 10 day stay. It's what's to be expected when you pay $25. I don't change my sheets at home every day, so not a real issue. And after a day of touring the city, when it was time for bed I didn't notice the lumpy bed. If a holiday to Beijing means you're gong to spend a lot of time at the hotel and need these luxuries, don't stay here. Initially I thought I might be too precious for some of the things mentioned in other reviews, and considered paying $75 for a more comfortable looking hotel in line with western standards, but I'm glad I didn't waste my money. For $25 p/n in Australia you would expect a hostel with bunk beds and 10 other people in your room. When I walked into my room here, I was very pleasantly surprised. The key thing was you had your own room and bathroom, it was safe and in a fantastic part of the city. LOCATION - fantastic. Close to Gulou station - 2 different lines stop here making it even easier for you to get around the city. A big plus! Lots of great restaurants and hole-in-the-wall places to eat. Very easy to find once you know where it is. Give your cabbie the address in Chinese when you first arrive. SERVICE - English speaking ability varies from person to person, but I didn't have any trouble with them.

"Nice and quiet courtyard hotel"
It's a nice and small family-owned courtyard hotel north of Beijings citycentre within the hutong area and inner Metro-circle of line 2. It's a fifteen minutes walk away from station Andigmen or Guloudajie. Trolley 107 goes along Gulou Dongdajie which can also be reached within 15 minutes walk. Drum and Bell tower with the nighlife areas Qian Hai and Hou Hai are 20 minutes walk away. The owners, except One young woman, do not speak english, but with free wifi, just use google translator and communication will work. Just the light bulb in front of my room (west wing) bothered me at night as the light was shining through the bathroom window and its glassdoor into the room. Hung a textile over the door.

"Convenient to subway"
This was my second stay here this month, for 1 night on the way home. As previously, everything was great. As mentioned by others, the bed was hard, but that's the norm for China.

"Nice experience in courtyard style hotel."
We had a pleasant stay at this courtyard style hotel. The layout of the hotel is similar to pictures. The deluxe room we booked was just right, not too small (which is the norm in Asia), but the bathroom was tiny and could use a bit of updating. The place had an authentic feel to it, so don't expect it to be like a modern hotel. Overall it was clean and comfortable for us AND no funny smells coming from the bathroom. The staff spoke basic English and they can arrange tours for you. The prices seem fair, but we didn't take any. Our booking included free breakfast and they offer a variety of Asian and Western choices. The hotel is located in one of the Hutongs where taxis can't/won't go there, so make sure to get their phone number and have the taxi drivers get directions directly from the hotel. We got there using the airport express and then subway. The directions provided by one of the other reviewers was really helpful and accurate.
