Beautiful Sugar Ridge

Posted Apr 28, 2017
Pros: Pretty much everything.
Cons: Nothing that I can think of at this time.
Location: Near by The Epicurean Supermarket- Restaurants at Jolly Harbour Marina- Castaways Restaurant- Jolly Harbour/ Valley Church/ Turners Beach/Fryes Beach-
This Hotel is beautiful. Located in Jolly Harbour. Friendly and helpful staff. The food at the Sugar Club Restaurant is very good. Had dinner 2 nights there. Good portions. We purchased the package with the breakfast included, which was also very good. You order what you want, they also have like a continental breakfast area. We had some drinks at Carmichaels, very good too. Gorgeous view from Carmichaels which is all the way on the top of the Hotel property. A small but nice infiniti pool is in that area too. Some lounge chairs available too. Another pool next to the reception area. If you get a room far away from the reception area, you have to walk... lots of steps. So if you have a health issue, you should tell them and see if they can give you a closer room to the reception area. They also take you in their shuttle to your room if you need it. They have an open Jeep as a shuttle that takes you to 2 beaches, Valley Church (Also known as The Nest) & Turners Beach. Both gorgeous beaches. They have a schedule of the drop/pick up times in the room. They are pretty flexible. The balcony is beautiful. There are mosquitoes like any other place during summer. Take mosquito spray, that's all. Very happy with our stay at Sugar Ridge.

Wonderful hotel!

Posted Apr 18, 2017
We moved to Sugar Ridge mid-vacation after being disgusted by the Jolly Beach Resort (JBR). We had a family of cockroaches in our JBR room, and when we complained to management, they laughed and said we were in the best room. So we booked a room at Sugar Ridge for the rest of the stay, and could not have been happier. The hotel is beautiful, well kept, and with some wonderful views from the hillside. The staff was always so friendly and helpful everywhere we went. The rooms were very nice, very clean, and we loved everything about it. The pools are fantastic too. Overall, we loved our stay at Sugar Ridge, and would absolutely come back!

We are always over-joyed when we read that guest’s “loved” their stay! We do our best each and every day so each guest has an idyllic boutique experience. When all of those elements come together to truly make a guest’s stay memorable – we humbly give our thanks. Next time when you think of Antigua – hopefully you think of us and make a return trip.

Grt location, friendly staff.

Posted Apr 18, 2017
Pros: Location. Rooms were well appointed and south facing. Carmichaels restaurant was terrific
Cons: Hotel needs updating. Gym was v old, pool towels can only come from reception NOT the pool itself (strange) the menu was limited & food was average
Location: Beaches nearby are lovely
Good location. Staff are wonderful. The rooms were spacious and all faced either the pool or sea. Request a higher room, better views. Carmichaels on the hill had amazing sunsets. The all inclusive was excellent value. Downside: limited menu, it's not clear whats 'extra' but seems you can get pretty much everything at no extra cost. took a while to figure that out though. It's a 4 star hotel, not 5 star so don't expect too much. We had a very relaxing time there.

There are no real amenities at the resort.

Location: There is nothing nearby and the hotel is too far from the beach.
Unfortunately this hotel is not one I would recommend to my friends.

We thank you for your recent stay at Sugar Ridge. You’re right – the views from our hillside rooms are dramatic, and dinner in Carmichaels is a very special experience. We appreciate your feedback on making our menu items more explicit and that feedback will only make us better. We do hope you’ll find your way back to us someday.

Nice hotel excellent views

Posted Mar 19, 2017
Pros: The staff on all levels are fantastic - incredibly friendly and happy to answer questions or simply stand and have a chat.
Location: Several restaurants in JH - ate in 5, nothing to complain about but not memorable. Also a small complex of eateries accross the road - good lobster.
Had ten superb days and nights at Sugar Ridge. Room was comfortable and practical - excellent shower, lovely terrace with comfortable furniture and cooling fan. Plunge pool unfortunately was very cold and therefore barely used. Air con was effective but incredibly noisy, fortunately the ceiling fan cooled the room adequately. We were staying b&b - breakfast was good with waiter service plus cerial / toast / pastries etc from a mini buffet. Ate twice in The Sugar Club - Caribbean night (don't recommend) and once from the normal menu which we both enjoyed. Ate twice at Carmichaels, both meals were superb costing around US$ 250 with a mid range bottle of wine. Pools / pool areas clean with comfortable beds. The gardens are very well maintained and well worth a stroll around after breakfast to burn off a few calories. Liked the fact the hotel is within walking distance of several restaurants - many Antiguan hotels seem to be pretty remote. We were a little concerned after reading comments from previous guests that we would be scaling a mountain to reach the room - fortunately this was not the case and never posed a problem plus of course a shuttle bus is available if required, we used it twice, once on arrival and then again on departure.

We certainly love to read when a guest has had a lovely and long stay with us. We certainly hope you left us relaxed and rejuvenated. You seemed to have taken advantage of most of what we have to offer at Sugar Ride, and even got out for some evening strolls. We hope we will see you again someday.
