Horrible

Posted Mar 15, 2017
Photos on website are not what you get as hotel is very old, it almost feels dusty. My sisters checked in before I did and the gave them the keys to my room which does t speak a lot of security. Some of the check in staff did not know what they were doing. The only good thing was breakfast room service and the staff that brought it to the room, the man was really nice.

Very good hotel

Posted Jan 16, 2017 on Hotels
Large room, comfortable. Fireplace. Could be noisy however at night with birds, dogs and roosters around. Nice pool. Nice sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. Good breakfast. Very good food at restaurant/room service. A good walk from/to main square.

Hotel was nice, but skip the restaurant on site

Posted Jan 1, 2017 on Hotels
The resort was beautiful. It had many things that we enjoyed (pools, ping pong, birds, etc). The restaurant on site was not so good. The service was terrible and the food was nothing to brag about. We were also disappointed that we booked our room with the breakfast plan, only to find out that we had to pay extra for our kids' breakfast because it was not included.

Colonially contemporary beauty

Well manicured gardens, clean rooms, nice swimming pools, live entertaiment, great atmosphere, food, coffee and pampering staff! Internet service could improve! Adding washcloths to the towells will be good too.

Location: Check out the Artisan market down the street. You can bargain for prices if you have quetzals (q's). Dive bar across the street.
This hotel is way over priced for the location. Yes it is beautiful as far as the scenery and the rooms but as soon as you step out of the gate, it's more locals than tourists. You definitely stand out. Other hotels/hostels are in the heat of Antigua and you step out and mix in with the crowd of tourists and locals. The hotel only has transportation from 9-6 every hour to Central park. After that, your on your own. I had to take Taxi's, tuk-tuks and even shuttle vans from other hotels to get to my hotel after 6pm. A unexpected headache. The hotel doesn't provide a fridge in the rooms as they don't want you bringing food or drinks from the outside. This can be a issue if you have medication that has to be refrigerated or you have leftovers from a great restaurant. The staff was friendly and always greeting you. The front desk was hit or miss. If you speak Spanish like I do your fine. My girlfriend doesn't and she said she can tell they had a attitude when she asked for change in USD. The bar there was on the pricey side along with the restaurant. Do yourself a favor and eat traditional food from the many restaurants in the heart of Antigua. I usually found the restaurants with a open air seating area were the best. The hole in the wall bar across the street was a bargain. 60-80 q's for 3 one litters! Me and my girlfriend had about 5 beers each whereas the bar in the hotel was charging 25-30 q's for one beer. For the amount of $ I spent here I expected better service.
