Gorgeous View and Ambience

Posted Aug 6, 2015
Rooms are large and breakfast was tasty. Having a hot tub in each room was a definite luxury. The hot springs on site were fairly warm. We would've loved to have had a more state-of-the-art gym to match the quality of the hotel. The view of the Arenal Volcano and gardens were breathtaking.

Beautiful hotel

Posted Jul 12, 2015
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the thermal pools and thought the gardens were beautiful. Unfortunately, because it was the rainy season, we weren't able to see the volcano. Our view would have been spectacular, but the volcano was shrouded in clouds during our stay there.

Dear Guest At Arenal Kioro Suites & Spa we are very glad to see your positive comments. It is always satifying for us to see that our staff, facilities and gardens are some of our strong qualities. We have to say that it is a shame the wheather wasn't a very favorable fact during your stay with us and you could not enjoy the magnificent view of the Arenal Volcano as you would during summer season. Being located at a tropical region make it very impredictable to know how the daily wheather is going to behave, specially during rainy season. Let's say that is part of the fun of the rain forest! Best regards,

We LOVED Kioro!

Posted Jun 24, 2015
Pros: The entire campus is beautifully maintained, the food and drinks were fabulous, and the service was top notch.
Cons: Our mattress was a little on the hard side for me. Additional lighting on the way to the spa would be helpful.
Location: Easy drive to zip lining course, waterfall rappelling, hiking at Arenal National Park, or La Fortuna for shopping. Hot springs are right there!
Our experience was wonderful. The rooms, main facility and grounds are all stunning. The staff was attentive and eager to make our stay an awesome one. They were professional and helpful. Our breakfast experience was terrific -- great presentation. During our stay we also had dinner, and had a drink at both lounges (pool and downstairs), and again we were very happy with the food/drink and the exceptional service.

Seen Better Days

Posted Mar 29, 2015
On the positive side, this hotel is in a good location at the base of the Arenal volcano. Also, hotel staff provided good service. However, this hotel is showing its age. Our air conditioning didn't work and the sliding glass doors in the room were old, didn't close well or lock properly. The buildings were covered in mildew and many of the walkway lights were in need of repair so take a flashlight. The gym was a joke with very few, very old and beat up machines. Even the towels they give you at the pool were old and becoming tattered.

Great for young kids

Posted Mar 26, 2015 on Hotels
A short two night stay with the family (two kids: aged 7 & 4) was very much enjoyed. The combination of hotel amenities (especially spa and hot springs), plus the fantastic views, abundant wildlife and activities made for a great stay. Wish we had one more night, it would have been worth the price.

thermal spring pools out operation

Posted Mar 23, 2015
Pros: The location at the foot of the volcano with unobstructed view to its flanks.
Cons: The design of the breakfast and dining room lacks atmosphere, being a large room with little decor, becomes noise with lots of people and kids.
We booked this hotel for its cascading thermal spring pools which look good on the photos. However, upon arrival we found them inoperative due to technical issues which appear not to be new.

PURA VIDA!!

Posted Mar 18, 2015
Pros: Everything! Staff...Food...Cleanness...The Garden...I can go on and on!
Cons: I would have to say what could be improved is maybe putting out some soft lights on the outdoor walkways. At night could get a little dark in garden.
Location: Visit hot springs, La Fortuna Waterfalls, ATV, Horseback Riding, Spa, Visit the beautiful Catholic church and shopping in Fortuna
The Arenal Volcano was the most breathtaking view from our room that we have ever experience! The staff was amazing friendly and helpful! Starting with Felix Jimenez who was so helpful with my questions with the hotel and tours prior to our visit. Wilmer (Koloches) and Jacklyn at the front desk received us with a big welcome and drinks waiting for us! My husband took me here for my 40th birthday and this by far will be the most memorable vacation ever! As strolling through the beautiful garden we met Gilberth (Gardener) who was amazingly welcoming and made me feel very special by taking the time to make me a beautiful birthday floral arrangement and delivered to our room!! Housekeeper cleaned our room beautifully and left us a cute display made out of towels each night. Felix also helped my husband in organizing a beautiful outdoor candlelight dinner with the help of our private waiter Jose Alisondo. Who made the best dessert while we watched!! Husband also hired a guitarist (Acoustica Lounge) to make this night AMAZING!! They made this so easy for my husband to surprise me with! And boy did they do an amazing job! I am still very impressed! This place by far will be my #1 recommendation destination to visit!

The staff of the hotel was very nice and the grounds were beautiful. Be prepared the rooms are filled with bugs the drapes have mold on them and the room smelled of mold. In addition when we requested a car to take us to the airport they quoted us $400. According to Expedia it says they offer transfers to the airport for $215. We would not recommend this hotel. (we contacted a service we used in Liberia that charged us $200).
