5 Star BungalowsPosted Aug 17, 2015
Cons: There is a TV in the room but only Spanish speaking channels. It would have been nice to have an English news channel.
The entire place was laid out very well. The grounds were are very well manicured. The staff are very pleasant. The room is very spacious with AC if you want it on and nice big shower in the bathroom. The hot spring pools are very nice and well as the cold water pool so you can dip in and out between hot and cold. The breakfast was one of the best if you go for the typical Gallo pinto. There is a small refrigerator in the room as well and you can do laundry on site for a bargain. One of the least expensive laundry experiences we had in Costa Rica.

Wonderful Arenal hotelPosted Jun 23, 2015 on Hotels
We spent a wonderful 4 nights at Hotel El Silencio del Campo. Each room is actually a small stand-alone cabin set among beautiful grounds. The rooms are well-appointed, clean, and spacious -- we did not feel cramped as a family of four (2 adults, a 5 year old, and a one year old). Location is good -- close enough to town (although not walking distance, you'll need a car or a taxi) so that leaving the hotel for meals is easy, but far enough away to avoid noise and the bustle of town. The best thing about the hotel, though, were the staff, and the concierges in particular. They were extremely helpful in arranging tours and transportation, giving us directions when our GPS failed, and just generally making our stay in Arenal a wonderful experience. I cannot recommend them highly enough -- friendly and always ready to help.

Nice property with great views and servicePosted Jun 13, 2015 on Hotels
We had a very pleasant stay at El Silencio. I went with my mom and dad for some outdoor/adventure activities in the La Fortuna/Arenal area, but unfortunately just before the trip my mom hurt her leg and was on crutches. The hotel was really kind and accommodating and even sent her breakfast to the room at no charge. The hotel is on a beautiful property just outside of La Fortuna, but about a 5-7 minute drive to town (probably not quite walkable). Some reviews were slightly negative about the food, but we really enjoyed it. We were talking with some of the front desk management folks and they noted they had been working to improve it lately. Breakfast was included and was water/juice/coffee/tea, a large fresh fruit plate, and one of 4-5 fresh, hot options made to order (pancakes, omelet, gallo pinto, huevos ranchers, or toast and eggs). We had dinner one night and really enjoyed the food, which was fresh and reasonably priced and we were allowed to take an eat it on the front porch of our cabina during our rainstorm, with a view of the volcano just beyond the property. We didn't use the spa or swimming pool, but the "hot springs" area was nice, with some chairs, a few different pool/jacuzzi areas, and a bar making fresh drinks and juices (with some food available as well) to order. All in all would recommend and stay again.

Great Place for Eco Family StayPosted Jun 3, 2015
We love to be outside and love to be able to interact with nature. My children 10 and eight both loved the farm and being able to wake up and milk the cows and gather the eggs from the chickens. The restaurant food is local if not even from the farm and it is excellent. Every staff person was beyond friendly and beyond helpful. They were a joy to be around and added to the experience. The Villa is very nice and well appointed. The hotel is close to the waterfall and it's very close to the volcano and the park and all the other things around downtown. As a family of four who likes adventure but also likes comfort this is a five star hotel!

The hotel's grounds had beautiful tropical foliage and well laid out hot springs. The luxury bungalow was charming. It was very serene and the staff was helpful.

Hot Springs are amazing!!Posted May 26, 2015 on Hotels
Beautiful gardens, helpful front desk and we had the hot springs to ourselves almost the whole three days. The landscaping is perfect, it isn't too touristy but we felt so relaxed. The only reason I rated 4/5 rather than 5/5 for service was that the staff in the spa were not as friendly as the gardners, restaurant, bar and front desk staff. We found that they spoilt our spa experience on one occasion.
