Nicely appointed hotel with awesome volcano views
Posted Feb 12, 2017
Pros: Beautiful rooms clean comfortable, ours with a volcano fed hot tub on our patio. Helpful staff, Awesome views
Cons: Absolutely horrid road to get to the lodge, 3.5 km long. Check in: 3:30. Room "not ready" at 3:15. When I said "I called and you had 5 unsold rooms, these rooms should be cleaned already" Suddenly the room was clean and the keys were given to us. Along with a complimentary bottle of wine "for the wait". They park your car and keep the keys. They shuttle you to your room. As you descend to your room, I say "I need something from my car" which we pass on the way to the room. The driver responds, "if you need something from the car just call the desk." We are shown the impressive room, tip the driver, and get settled. After taking in the view and the room amenities, I call and say I need something from the car. 20 mins later no one has arrived. I call again,"i'm sending someone right away." No one arrives. Finally I snag an employee who happens to be driving by. I tell him that I called twice and no one has arrived. He goes to the nearest house phone, to call the office. The phone is not working. Finds another phone, and shortly a driver appears. He takes us to our car, we get what we need, he spends another 3 or 4 minutes showing us the hot springs and wildlife, and returns us to the room. We tip him. Room svc costs $5. We order a casada that costs $4 anywhere in CR. cost: $18, toast $5! food-mediocre.Cost $58 plus tip
