Nice hotel close to town and the volcano
Posted Mar 12, 2017
We stayed for a week and had a great trip. Staff is very helpful (Jose, Alexander, Ana, Jackelin...so many others) and friendly. We had a fantastic view of the volcano 3 of the 7 days we were there, it certainly doesn't make an appearance every day...too cloudy, but still beautiful scenery to see at the resort. We had a Junior Suite with our own hot spring in the back which was AMAZING and totally worth the extra money. The rest of the pools were also fabulous although like other people have said, the music choice at one of the larger pools late at night is not appropriate for the setting. There were other pools to choose from late at night if the music bothers you though, we just avoided that one. They advertise a "jogging trail" on premises which is most definitely NOT a jogging trail, it is uneven and slippery with tree roots that would make it dangerous to use it as more than a relaxed nature walk, we enjoyed it anyway. The sound-proofing is definitely lacking, we found if we kept the bathroom door shut at night that helped. But the weather proofing strips/insulation around the door frames was non-existent which didn't help and also lets in some small bugs (mostly just ants, they weren't much of an issue but we DID learn to make sure we took the garbage out of the room nightly, even if the maid had been in that day). We did not like the restaurant on premises and only ate there once. We would have also appreciated a free shuttle, we were there a whole week.
