Probably was grand, once upon a time

Posted Aug 24, 2016
Pros: The location.
Cons: The entire hotel needs repairs. The list is far to long...
While the location and view from our window was great, and the bed was comfortable, that is about all. The hotel is quite run down - sad, considering that they charge a fairly high price and it could be a gem. The staff was indifferent at best. Only two windows opened, but of those, only one would stay open. We had to put a dresser drawer in the other to keep it open.

Alter Kasten

Posted Aug 11, 2016
Pros: Nichts!

Weinig parkeergelegenheid vlakbij. Wifi op de kamers. Ontbijt in orde.

Net, comfortabel hotel in rondreis

Posted Aug 2, 2016
Hotel met karakter, gemoderniseerd. Verrassend groot zwembad en fitnessmogelijkheden. Ontbijt en diner prima. Rustige omgeving, mooi om te wandelen. Wifi op de kamer werkte helaas niet.

Decent Hotel

Posted Jul 4, 2016
Pros: Location was perfect, room was comfortable and very clean, staff is friendly, free WiFi.
Cons: Carpets in the hallways and on the stairs need to be replaced.
Location: Great location right on the water, close to Oban distillery and many restaurants.
This hotel is in a great location and was a good price for the room. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was very clean and comfortable.

Rundown hotel but good buffet breakfast & location

Posted Jun 6, 2016
Pros: Decent breakfast, nice location
Cons: Most of the building needs refurbishment
This hotel has a decent full buffet breakfast, and the dining room has nice views out to the harbour if you are seated at the windows. Dinner options at the hotel finishes quite early. The bedroom itself was an okay size and had an ensuite bathroom, but there was no air con and also no sound proofing. There was a lot of noise from outside, made worse by needing to open the window to cool the room down. The building needs some serious overhauling - the carpet is seriously worn, the floors a bit wonky, etc. There is only very limited street parking available. Beware of GPS routing that might try sending you down the heritage trail instead of further around on the main A road.

Central Hotel with Great Views of Oban Bay

Posted Jun 3, 2016
Pros: Great views from the Dining area and especially the Lounge/Bar area - huge windows with views of the Isle of Kerrera and the Hills of Mull.
Cons: Coffee should be provided in the Bar Area after 9.30pm when we asked for a Coffee we were informed the Coffee Machine was switched off!
Location: Great Location besides the Railway Station and Ferry Terminal with excellent restaurants nearby with a Wotherspoons Pub on the Pier - open late.
Friendly and Helpful Staff from the day we arrived until the day we left, even the Reception wished us a Safe Journey Home on checking out - a nice personal touch. The sunsets from the Lounge/Bar area are breathtaking the sky turning Red against the Hills of Mull - wonderful. Very Good Breakfast and nice Coffee and cakes/snacks in the Bar during the day.

Traveller beware

Posted May 23, 2016
Pros: The view across to the isles. The soft towels.
Cons: Management need to ensure that the renovation programme we were told was underway does address filthy, work carpets, rotting windows and improves food
This is written to offer caution to all who are thinking of choosing this hotel. I booked an executive room with view of the harbour. The view was wonderful. The towels were soft. That is all that was good. The carpet was filthy and had long since seen better days. The windows were rotting, not double glazed, and let the sounds of the drunken nightlife in until 3 am. I have stayed in other hotels where management know the hotel is near to entertainment, so windows are double glazed, ear plugs are offered, and thoughtful staff encourage revellers to move on. Not here! If you are having the breakfast, check that your food is thoroughly cooked . We had sausages brown in one side and raw on the other. Both myself and my husband have stayed in a very wide range of hotels over many years, for work and leisure. This was unbelievably poor.

Great location but a but run diwn

Posted Apr 15, 2016
Fantastic views but the hotel needs some T.L.C . Our room was shabby, the shower was scalding with no way to control the temp. Other things on the room also required a bit of maintenance . However the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was great
