Well located unique place
The location is great. Quiet secluded spot with excellent views. Walk out to a hiking trail along the river canyon. Also worth staying just to see the architecture. This house is part of a design philosophy that is wildly different from most residential architecture in the US and if you have any interest in that stuff at all it Is really nice to see.

Relaxing and Peaceful stay
We loved the property! Stunning views 360 degrees around the entire earthship. The long hallway going from downstairs to upstairs was breathtaking! We took a hike from the house down to the hot springs at the bottom of the Rio Grande gorge and had the entire river to ourselves! We saw My Morning Jacket perform at Kit Carson Park and would highly recommend the venue if there happens to be a concert in town you like. All in all, we had a beautiful weekend and created lifelong memories. Thank you Brenda!

Unique and Enjoyable
We've used VRBO for 15-17 rentals in as many years, always a win for us. This year was no exception. This is the first time we've stayed in the same structure with the rental host. Staying a full week, we came to enjoy brief visits with Brenda, a friendly, free-spirited, and engaging host on-site. Brenda is a wealth of knowledge on the area's hiking and other attractions, and her pup Ruby won our hearts in the first few hours. Sharing the kitchen, living area, and refrigerator, although a new experience for us, was easily managed. The property, too, is very unique, and we had no issues with the operations. The downstairs suite was private and spacious. It has well-water, ambient temps in July, and the road in/out was easy to navigate in a Subaru. I'm sure this would be lovely in the early fall season. From the Manby Mineral Hot Springs and Rio Grande River Gorge, a mile walk from the door, to the hikes on Gold Hill, Wheeler Peak, Lobo Peak, and the Columbine Trail, the hiking was superb. The Carson N.F. is lovely. Our stay with Brenda and Ruby was a memorable week. We recommend this VRBO! k/t

Dobson House should be on everyone's Bucket List! Better than we Imagined
Let me begin with the fact that we are seasoned travelers. Italy, South America, Europe, the Caribbean, the U.S., .... we have done it and wrote about it in my blog, My wife and I are musicians, in our 50's and 60's (act and feel like 40's) and we love new experiences. With all that said, I must say that our stay at the Hobson House was so much better than we had hoped for. When my wife said she wanted to stay in an Earthship, I was like "What's that?" but went online and did some research. So we made a deal, two nights at the Dobson Earthship in Taos and two nights at Ojo Spa in Santa Fe. Staying in an Earthship sounded interesting and I was prepared to rough it for a few days. Oh My, this was not roughing it at all, yes it is in the desert and yes it's off the beaten path, but that was also part of the charm of staying at Dobson House. Our host Brenda and her dog Ruby, were so welcoming, we felt right at home from the moment we walked in. I can't explain the feeling you get from being out in the desert, it's like going back in time. It doesn't hurt that the Rio Grande Valley is litterally 15 minutes from the front door. A little about our stay, the House consists of to guest rooms downstairs and a main living area up stairs. The upstairs has full large Kitchen, TV and living room with about 75 percent of it being windows to look out over the desert and watch the sunset. We stayed in Guest room #1, it was spacious with a large shower and plenty of windows to look at the hot air balloon in the distance every morning we were there. One note as much of an amazing time it is staying here, make sure you take a morning or afternoon to head back to Taos and visit the Taos Pueblo. You learn so much about our Native American people. Make sure to do the free tour. There is so much more I could rave about our stay at Dobson House, and although I did like the days in Santa Fe, I'll just end with that I liked living in The Dobson House Earthship better than the Spa.

Unique & Amazing stay
I was visiting Taos with my best friend and my two teenage sons. We wanted to stay in an earthship and do some off-grid hiking through the gorge and desert. The Dobson House was the absolute perfect place for our stay. The owner, Brenda, was so welcoming and informative on hiking options, usage of the home and it's amenities. Her dog, Ruby, was so sweet and hung around us. My teenage sons especially loved having Ruby around :) Despite sharing the home with Brenda (which we didn't mind at all), it is very private as you have your own access and is in a completely separate area of the home. Plus, she offers access to the kitchen for cooking and leaves you to it. We rented two suites (across the hall from each other) and each suite was wonderful and comfortable. Not to mention the views and the unique way they are built. We just loved it. I cannot wait to stay again! Thanks Brenda for opening up your home to us!
