Nice hotel - Good locationPosted Aug 21, 2015
Pros: The hotel is the right size.
Cons: The service at the swim-up bar
Location: Very good location. Close to the beach, walking distance from "Palm Beach," which is where all the cool shops are located.
The hotel is big enough to have amenities, but not so big that it takes 30 min. to get from your room to the beach. The rooms have excellent beachfront views, and the views of the ocean are spectacular. You can get rental cars there, talk to Christian about snorkeling adventures, go parasailing, and a host of other fun stuff. However, the swim-up bar service is not the greatest. Also, we were not entirely thrilled to undergo the "timeshare" presentation. Also, if you can avoid American Airlines, that might be in your best interests. The seats are too small, the stewardesses/stewards were unfriendly, and there were several maintenance issues that caused the aircraft to be late, causing us to miss connecting flights. In one instance, a grounding strap had fallen off of the aircraft, the engine blades had "scoring" (at least that is what the pilot said over the PA), a restroom was out of order, we had to sit in a sweltering plane while the maintenance guys did troubleshooting on the hydraulic system (a couple of guys got sick and had to leave the plane), and, in Miami, they could not get the freaking door open. Other than that, if you want "fun in the sun" then you ought to try the Divi.

The hotel itself was suitablePosted Aug 10, 2015
Aruba isn't all that great. It becomes obvious day one. The whole island is geared to rip off and price gouge tourists. I know that's the way of it in most all the Caribbean islands, but there's much nicer ones to go to for the $$$

Nice hotel, but deceptive room descriptionsPosted Aug 4, 2015
Went here on our honeymoon, booked a "beachside villa suite". What we were given was anything but beachside. We paid for a beachside and got poolside with little to no no beach view. When asked they said that we were in the correct room. Just want all of you to know that beachside doesnt mean beachside in this resort. Otherwise it's a nice place and we had a great time.

Quiet, relaxing resort for couples and familiesPosted Aug 3, 2015
Pros: I loved that it was away from the hustle and bustle of the hotels in the Palm Beach but still close to the Palm Beach hotels & restaurants.
Cons: Purebeach restaurant should really have some control of the blackbirds that fly around the food especially during buffets. It was kind of gross.
Location: Palm Beach: hotels, shops & many restaurants. Downtown: for shopping and restaurants. Definitely book Jolly Pirate cruise!
Divi Phoenix Beach is not too far from the airport. It's a 25 dollar taxi ride from the airport. My 2 kids and I arrived in the hotel on Saturday, July 25, 2015 to a fairly long line. Even though there were 3 hotel people checking the guests in, it was very slow moving. When I was finally served, I received my hotel room card key. Lo and behold, after swiping my key card, there was a couple already occupying the room! I had to go back to the front desk and wait longer for this to be sorted out. After a while, an apology was offered to me; was told the manager made a mistake; and finally got the correct room. I was a little annoyed and aggravated at that point but was glad I got my room...finally! After that everything was smooth sailing. We went exploring the first day; I signed on for the Jolly Pirate cruise ride, etc. The pools are nice with a baby pool for the little ones. If you walk a little further, you arrive at the beach with various palabas (thatched roof shelters) or the curved halved shelters (not sure what they called them) dotted along the beach. And of course the beautiful clear turquoise waters! My kids' first time in the Caribbean islands and they were amazed by the beautiful waters. Since I didn't rent a car, we had to take taxis everywhere we went. The food in the restaurants were pretty good but it's not cheap. All in all, my kids and I had a great time soaking up the sun!

Wrong room!Posted Aug 2, 2015
I paid for a beachside villa. They first gave me a regular room on the 11th floor. When I complained, the gave us another room on the first floor but poolside and not a villa. When we saw our paperwork the hotel used for us, we saw the villa room number crossed out with 1101 written next to it and then crossed out again with the third room number. So basically they knowingly screwed us out of the beachside villa!

Resort is nice especially if you have children. However, check in was horrible. After coming from a long trip, you shouldn't have to wait almost 2 hours for your rooms. That was the only draw back, if this happens they should have a wash room available knowing that you have children. The front desk needs more hospitality, this is the heart of your hotel. Overall a nice resort to stay on the newer part of the resort.
