Swanky hotel with access to a private island
Posted Apr 4, 2017
Stayed at the Renaissance for 4 nights for a Girls Weekend. The hotel is very swanky, with a cool lobby bar area and small rooftop pool area with lounge chairs and seating. The decor was very updated and hip. Friendly staff, good drinks. Positives: Access to the private island via boat. Rarely had to wait much longer than 5 minutes for the boat to ferry us over. The island is gorgeous. Big restaurant/bar on the family-side, tiki bar on the adult-only side where the flamingos roam. Pool floats can be rented for $6, plus other water activities are available. Plentiful seating for sun bathing both days we went; beaches were not crowded. I saw very few children, even on the family side. Went to the beach area/swim up bar on the family resort one day as well, even though we were staying in the adult-only towers. Not crowded at all, good food and drinks by the bar plus the live entertainment was fun to watch. Negatives: No actual beach access from the adult side, so don't stay here if you want to be able to walk out of your room and down to a beach. All 4 rooms in our group had views of the street, no water view. It is also much further down the strip away from the more lively Palm Beach area, so at night we had to take 2 cabs since cabs in Aruba are maxed out at 5 passengers. The cab ride was approx 15 minutes, so don't stay here thinking you'll be walking there. We did not do the all-inclusive package and I'm glad since their restaurants aren't on the water and lacked ambience
