room was awful

Posted Oct 25, 2016
Pros: The pool and the grounds
Cons: Updated and clean and bigger beds
Location: That was all good
Dirty and old and full of dust couldn't even take the dirty washcloths outbid the tub. Only reason we stayed there was cause of the price. You figure after 7 years straight of going there they would do better. But no. Would not return again

Tropicana trying but not there yet....

Posted Oct 23, 2016
Pros: Well the best part was the room and the worst part was the room. We initially had reservations elsewhere but a mold issue forced us to vacate and find other accommodations. Since I own a timeshare at LaCabana in Aruba I figured Tropicana right behind it may have a vacancy. When I got there the front desk told me there were no rooms available. Finding that odd in October(Low Season) I went online to expedia. Low and behold expedia showed (9) rooms available. We needed 2 rooms so I booked 2. Then walked back to front desk with my expedia reservations and miraculously got 2 rooms. Whatever. Both rooms were in the newly renovated side of the resort so I had high expectations. The room was clean and nice but there were glaring design problems. 1-The entrance door slams shut so hard it bounces back open and does not lock shut. The door to the balcony does the same thing in both rooms. There is no wifi in the rooms and horrible signal on the balcony. In 2016 there is no reason there should not be wifi, let alone in a newly renovated section. The TV was set up in the kitchen because they never put an electrical outlet on the wall opposite the couch. odd to say the least. No where to plug in your laptop. Again thats crazy. The housekeeping staff were great. The front desk people were great, outside the original "no rooms avail" issue. Wifi around the resort in the common areas is spotty at best. All in all I would stay again in a pinch but I wouldn't plan a stay.
Cons: Wifi horrible, layout of room with no wall outlets for laptop. TV in kitchen area not across from couch. Entrance and balcony door dangerous.
Location: Its in a great location with plenty of things to do. Way to many to mention.

Needing to stay two extra nights in Aruba

Posted Oct 14, 2016
Pros: As indicated above, the pool area was very nice and beautifully kept.
Cons: See above comments about the guest room.
Location: Even though the location is not on the beach, the fact that Super Foods is across the street is a good thing.
The pool areas are beautifully kept and landscaped. That was enjoyable. However, as far as the room we got (5123),we are afraid we need to give you some constructive criticism: - We had to buy our own paper towels supply. - While looking for a dropped item we found a dirty hair brush under one bed. - The coffee pot was usable but top was broken. - Bottom of toaster was broken. - Kitchen sink drainer was filthy. We left it soaking in soapy water. - Bedroom closet doors need very strong man to be pushed open. - Those 1950 - 1960's hangers should be replaced by modern ones. - The rug between the beds was filthy. - Something black showed on top of the living room tall furniture. It didn't move so we assumed it was a piece of cloth and not a dead creature. - The issue of one pool towel per guest is totally ridiculous and they are handed out and retrieved as if they were made of priceless material. -Living room furniture is shoddy and rather dirty.

Facilities and Staff terrible

Posted Oct 10, 2016
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Staff, quality of room, not within walking distance of anything, and no entertainment or restaurants besides Bobs pizza.
Hotel misrepresented online. Rooms are very outdated. Staff very rude and unhelpful. Did not give any information about the island...i.e. Recommended eating and shopping locations. Had to go to that hotel across the street and ask them to call a taxi. Housekeeping didn't leave enough towels, replace the empty tissue roll or clean the tub/shower. Everything at the hotel closes early. Was not informed about the $200 deposit you had to put down once you arrived. I would recommend the hotel provide or recommend a list of restaurants, entertainment, nightlife, shops of things to do. At least provide the tourist options and not just check them in and send them on their way for them to figure out everything on their own. Definitely not customer service friendly.

Dated and run down. Owners have thrown lipstick on a pig to try to cover up the fact the place is an aged dump. Bugers in the casino were awesome. Pool was decent. Can't complain too bad for $90 a night in Aruba. Rooms have full kitchens and living room.

Es un hotel agradable, con buena ubicación para la playa, transporte al centro y súper food, aunque un poco olvidado en su renovación, el wifi no llega a las habitaciones, el personal muy atento y amable como siempre. Bien para su relación precio valor

Old outdated room..

Posted Sep 20, 2016
Pros: Love the pool area and the pool bar.
Cons: Only the room we stayed in.
Location: Great location. Close to everything.
Really disappointed in our room. Definitely would not stay in the older rooms again but would stay in the rehabbed rooms. everything else we had no complaints about. Pool area is very nice.

We had a patio and helped us relax, We wake up by 4 am everyday. The pool had a water slide which gave ,me hours of enjoyment after the beach. The hotel was also close to some little shops a dunkin dounts and baskin robbins for kids. Great hotel will book again in the future.
