Convenient location and helpful staff

Posted Feb 3, 2018
Pros: The bath, the rooms and the staff.
Location: Asakusa temple, Ueno zoo, Owl cafe (we did not go though). Near Ginza line,Asakusa line,Airport limousine bus pick up point to Haneda Airport (500m)
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kamogawa! I travelled with my husband and my 2 year old toddler. Location was very close to the metro. We took exit 1 which had a lift and took us less than 5min to reach. We requested for delivery of our stroller to the Ryokan 3 days before our check in date and the staff was willing to help us safe keep it. There was always a staff who was able to speak English on duty as well. The rooms were really clean and so was the big bath. Rooms were very comfortable and warm (we went when it was snowing heavily). Ensuite toilet had a bathtub too but it is a bit small. We did not use it at all as the big bath was available for private booking. Our family used it every night when we were there. It was great fun for the little one too. We felt the price was a bit on the higher side but worth it for the local hospitality that we experienced, the bath, the Ryokan experience of sleeping on the tatami mats. Our toddler loved it.

Wonderful Hosts

Posted Dec 12, 2017
Such wonderful hosts! They did everything from checking the Snow Monkey web cam before we went, recommending a restaurant with local craft beers to providing detailed ski information. Breakfast was all locally sourced and extremely fresh. Rooms are super clean & brand new!

Very nice hotel close to Ginza subway

Posted Dec 12, 2017
Hotel staffs are very polite and helpful. Hotel location is within a short walking distance to Ginza line, airport access express line and Asakusa temple. Room is suitable for 2 people with big luggages and all facilities provided in a great condition. I will stay here again when I go back to tokyo again.

Good location, decent place, but know your room!

Posted Nov 12, 2017
Pros: The location! The staff were friendly and helpful!
Cons: The futons and pillows should be upgraded. The booking sites should show square footage and correct photos.
Location: There are many restaurants and shops nearby. It is also very close to the Seno-ji Temple, about a 10 minute walk. The Asakusa statioin is 5 minutes.
I travel a lot and have stayed in many hotels. I stayed at Ryokan Kamogawa last week. This was the last accommodation I had while in Japan, and the third ryokan. The location is excellent although JR Line does not go to Asakusa, but it is only a 10 minute ride to Uneo to take a JR Line train. The people are lovely and accommodating. But know the room you will be getting! There is more than one "standard" type of room. The first room we were given was about 8x8. It was very claustrophobic. The booking site did not mention room size and showed photos of a sitting area. The next day they gave us a different room (the manager said because we were staying 3 nights) which was the same as the photos on Expedia. It was at least double the size as it had a separate sitting area and the main bedroom was at least 3-4 feet longer. The rooms are basic, not constructed of high end materials but are adequate. The futons on the floor could have been thicker. We looked and they were two, one on top of each other. Perhaps they were 4" total. The duvet was comfortable. The pillows were not. They have a public bath that you can book and it is clean and lovely. The hotel does not have a lobby so there is nowhere to sit if you have checked out but have a few hours before you are leaving. The staff are accommodating, friendly and helpful, as I found so many of the Japanese people were. We had the breakfast plan and it is worthwhile. I had the Japanese breakfast and it was very good.

Super spacious rooms in comfortable Japanese style. Fabulous breakfast but pricey (¥1500). Very small but private bathroom.

Thank you for your comment. We are updating the facility so that the guests would be feel the traditional Japanese lifestyle. If you have a chance to come to Japan again. we would like to see you in our property. Best regards, Ryokan Kamogawa Asakusa
