This is the back of the Biltmore, I thought this was a nice pic :) We stayed at the Inn on the Biltmore and the Sunrises are just amazing. This is a phone pic but I just love it.. Fabulous way to spend the day :) Antler Hill Village is located near the famous Biltmore House, America’s largest home. It includes 8,000 acres of beautiful scenery, historic gardens and a winery. There are wonderful holiday light displays this time of year and free wine tastings. The Biltmore House was the family home to George and Edith Vanderbilt and opened on Christmas Eve, 1895. The Cecil family opened its’ doors to the public in 1930 in an attempt to increase tourism during the Great Depression and to generate income to preserve the estate. It houses magnificent 16th century tapestries, a library with 10,000 books, 65 fireplaces, an indoor pool, and a bowling alley. This is the main Banquet Hall that has a seven story, 70 foot ceiling and tapestries from the 1500’s. It was the place for elegant dinner parties and celebrations. Built between 1889 and 1895 by George Vanderbilt II the house has 250 rooms totaling 179,926 square feet. The slate roof tiles were individually attached by wire to the attic's steel frame. The Inn on Biltmore Estate is the coolest place I have ever stayed. There are majestic views of the mountains and the Inn is all decked out for Christmas. If you're visiting Asheville, this is THE place to stay. Here's the entrance of the Biltmore Estate. There really isn't anywhere more beautiful than the Biltmore property. I was walking down the street and I came upon this really cool wall. Asheville fits into the stereotype of Appalachia in a unique way. Appalachia doesn't exactly fit into the modern, mainstream culture. Asheville fits into that non-conforming mold.
