Very Rude! Did not stay....

Information appeared correct online but confirmation had wrong date.Called Hotels.com they told us "nothing we can do, call hotel directly."Called hotel to request proper date and lady on phone said no refunds because we booked online not directly with her.We told her we didn’t want refund, only switch dates.She told us wasn’t possible as rate clearly stated no cancellations or refunds.Again we just want to change dates and explained the 'glitch' in booking.She was very short and when I asked to speak to a manager, she informed quite rudely she WAS manager and I could book right date but would still pay for wrong booking.I asked for Regional Managers name and was told "take it up with Choice Hotels."I called Choice Hotels Customer Service and was told that hotel was ‘independently owned and there was nothing’ they could do.We’ve used Choice Hotels for over 20 yrs and NEVER run into this level of incompetence, poor customer service and sheer unwillingness to co-operate with customers.If we had to pay for 2 nights of useless hotel anyway, we wanted the room donated to a military family or new family free of charge.We called the hotel but when asked to do it, they said that they couldn't because I had to produce MY ID at check-in.Really?!? If I could be there to produce my ID, I'd have stayed in the room...frustrating.
