Not super fancy, but a great value.

Pros: Clean room and great value.
Cons: Outside needs a little updating.
Location: Ole's Mexican Restaurant is just across the foot-bridge over the stream. Downtown Black Mountain is a few blocks away with great shops & restaurants.
We've stayed here a few times. It's a great value. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and the included continental breakfast is nice. There's a nice stream running by the property. Crossing the foot-bridge to Ole's Mexican Restaurant is convenient as well.

You get what you pay for right

I chose this hotel because it was the closest to lake lure. My friendbwas getting married in lake lure. Anyway the bed was hard. It was cheap but the breakfast they had was nasty. Hotel staff was nice and friendly.

A little sketchy

Posted Sep 21, 2015
This was a last minute booking instead of a hotel in Asheville. I had to take a smoking room which did smell. The bed was clean and the AC worked. There were a lot of people hanging out on the balcony. The hotel was inexpensive however and ok for a night. Black Mountain is a nice stop. I did kill a spider in the room that morning. If my wife was with me it would have been a deal breaker. I had no problem with the staff but I had limited contact. The Internet did not work but I was there just to sleep.

Nothing Super about Super 8

Posted Sep 13, 2015
Pros: Close to town.
Cons: Thorough cleaning and airing out of room. Update and refurb needed. Buy new air conditioners.
Location: Car park backs onto Mexican restaurant Ole Guacamole. Short walk into town.
Hoped for more since it was $100 per night. Disappointed. Room had an odor when you walked in, probably trying to cover up people smoking in non smoking rooms. Bathroom was worst - smelled musty/old. Opened first drawer to put in clothes and the front fell apart. Obviously had been like that but instead of fixing put it back like it was so it didn't look broken. It was a short walk into town which was good so we were prepared to suck it up and like it for 2 nights. However the airconditioner was so noisy and rattled we had to turn it off to sleep (when we did we then heard the one above us). There were guests there on motorbikes that started revving up at 11:30pm and again early morning - which again kept us awake though can't blame the hotel for that. All in all was a terrible nights sleep so checked out after 1 night and went home.

Falling outlets, lack of necessary outlets

This hotel room was in desperate need of an electrician, rehab of the bathroom, and care of the room.

We stayed at this hotel only because we ran a Spartan race nearby. There were bugs, the shower didn't drain properly, the carpet felt wet and was dirty, and the entire room felt moist all the time.

Pros: Departure.
Cons: Tear it down and build a new one. You'll never get this one clean.
I even went to the shower in my shoes, rather than touch the carpet with my bare feet. Disgusting.

Close to downtown Asheville.

the hotel was cheap, however, there were a few things that needed improvement. The sink wasn't working. Water built up when the faucet was turned on. There was also a cockroach crawling on the night table. The breakfast could also use some improvement. Other hotels had better breakfast buffets for a cheaper price.

Comfortable room for a night's stay

Posted Aug 18, 2015
Pros: Comfortable
Location: Black Mountain is just outside of Asheville, a short drive away. The area itself also has a nice view of the mountains and scenic surroundings.
Our room was around the back of the hotel with a nice view of the mountains rather than the road. Breakfast was included, but no hot items -- coffee, muffins, cereal, etc. The bed was comfortable and the room had been cleaned well prior to our arrival. It was a good place to stay for the rate overnight.
