Historic hotel in the heart of town

Posted Dec 2, 2016
Pros: location
Cons: the bathroom
Location: right next to downtown with its many bars and restaurants
Lovely building and wonderful, welcoming staff. Very tasty breakfast, too. We had the third-floor back bedroom which is actually two adjoining spaces, each with a queen bed. It was perfect for our small family! The only less-than-stellar part of the room is the bathroom which, although very clean, needs updating.

Thank you for staying with us and we are so happy you enjoyed your stay. That bathroom is set to be remodeled this winter.

My only complaint was that the restaurant was closed and it did not say this on website. FYI, it is seasonal. We had so looked forward to etouffee. Sangria at 4pm was very good.

A taste of the past, more than just a room

Posted Nov 23, 2016 on Hotels
It is all about the atmosphere. I could get a modern room in an impersonal hotel with modern conveniences. That is not why we go to a B and B. The owners and the managing staff are just the kind of special people you want to be around. One of the owners, a writer himself, almost makes you feel like a character in a book. This is our third stay with Charleston. It is in itself a piece of history, well over a century old. Add in hand picked furniture and decor with their personal Inn Keeper style and you have much more than a room. The wine and cheese hour is also a big draw for us. It is as social as you want it to be or just retire to a quiet corner and read a book. Don't miss their breakfast, it is always good and often something a little "out of the box". Unique that is, not literally out of a box ( - :

Great historic hotel on Main St.

Posted Nov 14, 2016 on Hotels
This is a great hotel that is a historic building in a good location right on Main St. The staff is amazing - very friendly and helpful. You can hang out on the huge front porch or inside in several living rooms. The restaurant in the hotel serves the best breakfast, and dinner was fabulous. Only negative is if you are a light sleeper - the road noise is loud, the bed is hard and the transom window over the door lets in lots of light. I had a tough time sleeping.

Thank you for your review. Please call the Inn before your arrive on your next visit and we can make sure you get a room in the house that is located in the back of the house and does not have a transom over the door.

Perfectly Quaint Little Inn for Our Anniversary

Posted Nov 8, 2016 on Hotels
The Charleston Inn was a perfect little getaway for our 11th wedding anniversary! We checked in and were able to pour ourselves glasses of complimentary wine and eat several different cheeses. The Inn was perfectly quaint and stylish with an antique and comfy vibe. The employees were friendly and kind. Our room was on the front side of the Inn, so we had a view of the street. It had a fireplace, but we couldn't figure out how to work it (it wasn't truly cold enough for it anyway). The Lantern restaurant that is on the lower level of the Inn was a little pricey but delicious! We walked around the town after dinner. We were surprised that it contained so many shops, bars, and restaurants in their shopping district! Breakfast the next morning was delicious! We were disappointed we couldn't stay another night. We checked out and went to see the Christmas decorations at Biltmore (which I highly recommend also). The only thing I would have changed was that I would have brought a fan to drown out the traffic noise. The Inn is located on a busy street, so of course you can hear traffic noise. Overall, our stay was perfect!

Close to everything!

Posted Oct 26, 2016
Location: So many things are in the area! Biltmore estate, Flat Rock playhouse, apple picking in Edneyville, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure, Asheville, downtown.
Quaint house on the historic registry, and has all the charm of bygone years. Has wooden floors, a great wide porch, a great friendly staff, and fantastic food for breakfast. There is also a top notch restaurant attached.

Very nice bed and breakfast with good amenities

Posted Oct 24, 2016 on Hotels
We loved our room and the breakfasts were tasty. Each morning we had a choice from two options. We spent our days in Asheville so didn't explore the Hendersonville area much. We did find a great place for pizza one night for dinner.
