Great family friendly hotel (although on the pricey side). Our room was comfortable, but small.

Historical hotel

Nice getaway. Some errors by the front desk folks. Dinner reservation was messed up but the manager took care of it well

Grand location

Posted Aug 27, 2015
Pros: Live music in lobby and a large room
The charm and elegance of this hotel have survived well. It is always a special trip when I am able to incorporate this destination into a trip. I always stop for lunch on my way through town, even if I am not able to spend the night.

Wow

Posted Aug 26, 2015
Pros: Service, beautiful setting.
Cons: Get a coffee shop or let people eat breakfast on the verandah.
Location: Fabulous, fun, historic, beautiful.
I can't believe such an exclusive hotel offers no breakfast other than at a snack bar in the gift shop. Yikes! There were 100 people on the line to get coffee! Low-sloping ceiling in my room resulted in my hitting my head hard. Overall, though, worth every indignant moment in this gorgeous place in the gorgeous mountains of a gorgeous town.

A MUST VISIT

Posted Aug 19, 2015
Pros: Architecture, history, view, surroundings, grounds, facilities, overall ambience, etc.
Cons: Wish that upon check-in, all amenities had been pointed out specifically; after the fact realized that our son could have had free golf lesson
Location: multitude of things from smoky mountains to asheville downtown, eateries, biltmore estate, arts district etc.
Could only stay one night but luckily had wonderful meal on patio and drinks later on outside as well; able to take free 10 am tour and learn history more in-depth. Wish we could have stayed longer

Expensive and very small room

Posted Aug 17, 2015
My husband and i were excited to enjoy a relaxing weekend in Asheville. The hotel architecture is nice but we were dissapointed with the extreme small room. The window was tiny and we had no view at all because it was so high up. For the price we paid we expected more. Also be prepared to pay for parking.

Nice hotel, excellent service - missing amenities

Posted Aug 17, 2015
We stayed a week for summer vacation and had a good time but would have liked to have pool closer to hotel building and outdoor hot tub that's not connected to the spa (or basic/pared downspa privileges as part of resort fee). A morning coffee stand in the Sammons wing would also be a good addition. Rooms were nice and mountain view was great, but bathroom was much smaller than similarly nice hotels.

Gorgeous place. It's 103 years old. Main hotel rooms are nice but vintage like.

Incredible views of mountains!

Posted Aug 15, 2015
Last minute decision to stay here was BEST decision made during this brief trip. Stayed in old part of hotel & just imagined the history of the room. Wonderful, friendly staff. While we are from Colorado and see mountains all the time, the view of the Smoky Mountains and dense forest nearby was beautiful.

Very nice hotel. They even brought milk and cookies for my children at bedtime.
