Great hotel

Cons: Coffee and tea in room
Location: Normandy beaches, go see the American Cemetery
Great hotel, if your looking for a good honest hotel, with out all the frills of a 5* then you can go wrong.Basic but clean , good breakfast and helpful staff. If we go back to the area then we will return. Thank you for a great stay

Was in good location . Quiet and convenient to beaches . Adjacent restaurant was disappointing food wise .

Excellent location for D-Day beaches, but hot !

We stayed for two nights at the Gold Beach hotel. It is more of an apartment hotel, and our room was equipped with a kitchenette on the first level, and our bed on the upper level. However, the bedroom area is in the unventilated apex of the roof, which means that all the heat in the apartment rises and there is nowhere for it to escape! Even with the window on the lower level open for the night and the provided fun running at full blast, we found the temperature at night very challenging for sleeping - and that was only with daytime temperatures in the mid 20s! A shame really, as the addition of a small, opening skylight or vent would make a big difference. The bathroom was "OK": it looked tired and the shower had seen better days. The location is great for the D-Day beaches, but be aware that there is not much happening in Asnelles itself, though nearby Arromanches offers much more choice for eating out, etc. All-in-all, it was passable, but we would not choose to stay here again.

We sincerely hope you managed to take full advantage of our fortunate location with Gold beach less than 100 metres away, and just 10 minutes from Arromanches City Centre. We are terribly sorry for any discomfort you had experienced regarding the room temperature. Please note that we are installing air conditioning in all our rooms. Currently, there is a window or a door window in every room for air circulation. We do hope we will have the opportunity to see you in the very near future. The location was ideal. Breakfast was o.k Staff very helpful and polite. No A/C so room was very hot and you couldn't open a window. We were on the ground floor and the only opening was a patio door which you couldn't leave open at night. There wasn't a bar/restaurant for refreshments. There was no remote control for the tv. There was a horrible smell in my room that came from the wet room-I think

Gold Beach Hotel great service outdated building

Gold Beach Hotel was decent. Check-in was fast and the front desk staff was very welcoming! The restaurant served good food and the breakfast was good. The rooms were very worn and didn't feel clean. It did the trick for one night. It needs to be renovated. It was close to other sights as well.

Nice staff...

Fast and friendly check in. The owner was very pleasant and gave us directions to the various sites around. The hotel lacked some creature comforts however. Was not aware that the air conditioning was not there...and was a warm evening. Mind you there was a large window that opened and got more comfortable by morning. There were different things smeared on the wall in various areas...not sure what it was. Finally there were no large towels to use for shower. For one night this accommodation did the job. A bit pricey for what you get comparatively.

Gold Beach Hotel

unit was a 2 level effieiency with sleeping area up a narrow stairway. hsving the bathroom on lower level of unit was quite inconvenient. towels provided barely adequate. building itself appears "tired"... Restaurant associated with hotel located across parking area....food there...poor quality. Breakfast area within hotel...provided a decent breaskfast.

Great stay to tour Normandy beaches!

An excellent spot for staying to rest after visiting the Normandy Beaches.. Small kitchen provided thus you can make your own cooking too. Lots of free parking for visitors coming in by car.. We stayed here for 3 nights visiting Juno, Sword, Gold and Omaha Beaches, even including Pegasus Bridge, Bayeux and Caen along the way. Our final day we visited Mont St Michel which is about 2 hours drive from this hotel. Only that because the weather starts changing to warm, but there was no air condition thus we have to open our windows and on the fan.. Other than that everything was great!
