Where to Eat

39 Degrees - Rough-hewn timber, custom-designed modern furniture, and a long stone fireplace highlight this lounge, one of Aspen's most popular night spots. A large, pivoting door leads to a radiant-heated sundeck with views of Aspen Mountain. Hot breakfast buffets are served in winter and summer, daily Continental breakfast is available as well as an extended bar menu is offered for lunch and dinner seasonally.

The hotel is nestled at the base of Aspen Mountain, which has a base elevation of 7,945 feet and a vertical rise of 4,406 feet. Ajax, as it's commonly known, features 673 acres of skiable terrain, and none of its 76 trails are suitable for beginners. Rated 48 percent more difficult, 26 percent most difficult, and 26 percent expert, they are accessible by eight lifts, including the Silver Queen Gondola, which makes the trip between the base and the summit in 14 minutes.

Three miles away, Aspen Highlands is bigger and more beginner-friendly. The 11,675-foot mountain offers 130 trails on 790 acres of skiable terrain (18 percent easiest, 30 percent more difficult, 16 percent most difficult, and 36 percent expert) accessible by four lifts.

Five miles from the hotel is Buttermilk, which has a base elevation of 7,870 feet, a vertical rise of 2,030 feet, and offers a more relaxed experience. Its 42 trails encompass 430 acres of skiable terrain (35 percent are rated for beginners, 39 percent are more difficult, and 26 percent most difficult) accessible by nine lifts. Buttermilk is home to Aspen's ski school and includes one half-pipe, a two-mile-long terrain park, and the Boardercross course.

At 12,510 feet, Snowmass has the highest summit and the most acres of skiable terrain, 3,100. Snowmass' 87 trails (6 percent easiest, 50 percent more difficult, 12 percent most difficult, and 32 percent expert) are accessible from 21 lifts, including seven high-speed quad chairs. Snowmass is located nine miles south of Aspen in family-friendly Snowmass Village.

The Aspen Golf Course, 3.5 miles away, has an 18-hole course, driving range, pro shop, and PGA instruction. Redesigned by Jim Engh, the 18-hole course at Snowmass Golf Club is 10.5 miles away.

You won't need a rental car if you stay here. It's walking distance to anywhere u need to go. They have a free shuttle that'll take you wherever till 1am. Although I did enjoy my stay I'm not too sure the staff takes to black ppl too kindly. Employees ignored me at times to serve other white customers then and when i asked for a Tylenol for my girlfriend I was directed to a nearby pharmacy. Only to have another employee bring me some as soon as she walks off. Stating I'm sorry she doesn't like to give this stuff away.

Great Hippie hotel, right by the Gondola

Located right on the bottom of the Gondola, the hotel offers free wine to guests from 5-6 PM in their lounge area. Busy bar with DJ around that time. Fun jacuzzi / hot tub pool area . I've heard the W purchased the hotel and will tear its old building down to re-do it soon.

Tiny rooms, very dated, not clean

Tiny rooms, very dated, not clean, worst of all they did not honor my fully prepaid reservation family of 6 crammed into 2 tiny rooms with out enough beds to sleep in. Great family experience ruined by dishonest hotel !!

It was a great experience, everybody was very nice, willing to help and very friendly. Rooms were clean and kept in good condition. We travelled a lot and this one is one place where we will return. Price vs Quality, you can't get it any better for Aspen!! Now, if you are willing to spend the big bucks on the hotel you can def find way more expensive ones but you def pay the price!!!!!

Sky Hotel - Good for the basics

Pros: Location
Cons: Few amenities - just the basics.
Location: Perfect location - everything within walking distance.
My boyfriend and I took a quick 3 day getaway to Aspen in the off season. We stayed at the Sky Hotel. It was a great location, but it's older, a little outdated, no coffee in the room, and no room service.

Just wanted to say that we do offer complimentary coffee from 5 am to 10 am daily served in the lobby, and we have complimentary coffee makers (and coffee) available on request . Room service hours are modified to dinner only in our off season, but we begin full room service on Thanksgiving day the first day the Mountain opens. On that date we offer nightly turn down service,full concierge service, and a beautiful breakfast buffet. Plus, we have the best Apres ski in Aspen. Looking forward to serving you again in the hopefully near future.

Location is great and staff is wonderful, but the hotel is in serious need of updating. Rooms are not cleaned well...clearly a rush job and missing trash, like earbuds around the room.

Location: this hotel is at the base of Aspen mountain. it couldn't be closer to everything town has to offer.
I had a great stay at the Sky Hotel. The location is extremely convenient and if any of your destinations are slightly further than you prefer to walk, then the staff is able to drive you at a moment's notice.

Pros: very clean staff very friendly but not in your face
Cons: little touch up paint here and there... too many ski boots i think kicking the door frames ha ha
Location: perfect location right in town walk to everything eaxy..though very restful sleep
great vibe. wonderful pool patio and staff. bed crazy comfortable .. hotel is amazing because of its attention to the small details that make travel fun..
