Be prepared

Our situation was unique so I can see why typically this hotel has four stars. My hotel reservation got double booked and I asked the gentleman at the desk for assistance in cancelling the more expensive one. He didn't seem pleased at all to help me so he spiteful cancelled the cheaper reservation. Therefore, I had to go in a cancel the second reservation and book an entirely new reservation. After all that was done, I get a call from a lady, I'm assuming the manager on duty the night we stayed(also unpleasant) asking if I'd like a room upgrade because we had two people. I explained we may have an additional person joining us and she accused me of lying on my reservation about the number of guests we had. Fast forward to our stay .. we get in that night and again get greeted in a Manor like we were in trouble. Seems odd to me someone is so willing to pin blame on innocent guests. The same lady was super helpful in giving directions the next morning but still seems hostile and judgemental. Overall, we were all appalled at the service and treatment we received. It is Aspen after all though so no real surprise. The actual facility was really cool, but everything else that happened was such a turn off we definitely won't be returning.

It sounds like the main problem was our staff members where not being friendly and helpful which shall be brought to her's and his attention. There is no reason for that to happen. I am sorry you will not be staying with us again, but fully understand, we normally have a 10 on our staff and not sure what was going through there head during you stay. Sorry for the bad experience.

Friendly with nice atmosphere

Pros: Friendly, helpful staff; lovely grounds
Cons: Seating in the breakfast area was difficult at the large table because of the table legs.
Location: We walked to the Sat. Farmer's Market as well as restaurants for dinner. Going to the Grottos outside town allowed for a short hike.
We recently spent 3 nights at the St. Moritz and were happy with the accommodations. Though our room was on the small side it was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Standard motel breakfast was enchanted by a wide and plentiful variety of fresh fruit. SInce this is also a hostel, there was some friendly conversation among those staying at the St. Moritz, which added a nice touch. The grounds were gorgeous, with bountiful flower baskets and plantings.. A hammock on the grounds was often occupied. The pool was inviting and clean. It's a short walk to the main part of Aspen which allowed us to leave our car at the hotel and see the town.

Pros: Price, breakfast, location.
The staff was very helpful with information. the hotel is in a fairly quiet part of town only a few blocks from downtown, and easy to find.

The worse ever hotel

First, no parking, second, no staff to great you,I booked two(2) rooms,and they said I booked two(2)beds. Imagine, my wife and three (3)kids, my 15 yr old son went to sleep in the van, the 9yr. Old sleeped in the floor, I try to sleep with my wife, but the bed were so small, I end sleeping in the floor and I paid $168.something for this. Ah!!!! The WORSE was my wife's birthday.

You booked 2- shared hostel beds with shared bathroom. Online describes this room very clearly, small room with 2 beds and bathroom down the hallway. Further more you stated only 1 adult on each reservation, no kids. People see this rate and think they are getting a regular hotel room. We do have them as well but they they are more expensive. and based on 2 adults and 3 kids you actually needed our 2 bdrm condo, but that's $350.00 night. Sorry you had a bad experience but this is not our fault, you needed to book the right type of room for your family.

Reasonably Priced

Pros: Price
Location: A bit of a walk from all attractions.
This is about the only reasonably priced hotel in the city of Aspen. It is not in the center of town, but not a long walk, and it does have parking spaces, another rare commodity in this overpriced city.

Pros: The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Rooms were clean. The pool was clean, clear and comfortable. The courtyard was awesome.
Cons: The rooms are not air conditioned and require the windows to stay open during the day and night.
Location: Only a 6-minute walk to the center of town and a couple more to the lifts or shuttle bus hub.
Our stay was during the last half of August 2017. It was a very nice stay and we will try to stay with them next year. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Rooms were clean. The pool was clean, clear and comfortable. The courtyard was awesome, perfectly groomed with fresh beautiful flowers in full bloom.Only a 6-minute walk to the center of town and a couple more to the lifts or shuttle bus hub. On the down side, a couple of things need improvement. The rooms are not air conditioned and require the windows to stay open during the day and night. This alone is not a problem as the overnights got down in the 40s and the day highs never reached 80. The window overlooks the pool, and Pool side chatter will keep you awake unless you shut the window, but then it gets hot. The other issue was the complimentary breakfast. Not worth the trouble, only a few fruits and store bought boxed doughnuts and toaster waffles. Nothing cooked like eggs, bacon or such to be found. The dining area is in a converted basement and very small and claustrophobic and seats only a few. These issues will not keep me from staying there in the future, one just needs to be prepared. I probably could have asked for a fan, and I never stay at a hotel for the free food anyway.

Sorry about the breakfast, we try try to focus on the fresh fruit because the other items are store bought, donuts, sweet rolls, bagels, cereal. We do not do the hot breakfast. We do have fans and also invaporative coolers, but the windows have to be open for them to work and cool down the room. We are happy to hear you will visit us again on your next trip to Aspen.
