Not so welcoming front liners

Reception, concierge and Guest Relations staff needs more training in welcoming guests. I felt they were filtering the type of guests to welcome. We got 2 messages from GR after I have left a good review in Expedia. Staff at Airotel Pathernon where we transferred to, could give 5star training to IHG staff in welcoming guests specially for Athens first timers like us. Spacious room and comfortable bed. Only One complimentary bottle of water for double occupancy. Not sure if this was standard, still thanks for free water.

Excellent customer service. Extremely attentive. Excellent shuttle service to town. Super view of the Acropolis.

Nice and comfortable hotel

Pros:Very spacious and comfy rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Cons: if breakfast not included in your booking it can get very expensive. Room service charges are exhorbitant!

Excellent value.

Pros: Very helpful front of house staff and when there are rooms available on the Club Floor, this is what we would recommend.
Cons: The club lounge is too small for the volume of people and they could do with an extra staff member on the desk
Location: A little far from the main tourist areas, but still walkable.
While the food is expensive, this has been a wonderful getaway from the hectic pace and noise of Athens. We can see the Acropolis from our room, although it is about a half hour walk.

Excellent hotel with great service

Stayed in Club floor. Excellent service and facilities. Excellent breakfast in Club Floor. Hotel provides very efficient and punctual transport to Syntagma Square. Amazing view from top floor of hotel. If in Athens again, we certainly would stay at the Athaeneum Intercontinental.

Comfortable, friendly but pricey

Pros: Friendly helpful staff. Large comfortable rooms. Free hotel shuttle and access to cheap Athens transport system.
Cons: Room decor and standards. Bar and restaurant pricing that clearly doesn't understand the concept of price elasticity of demand.
Location: Located about a mile south of the Acropolis, alongside main road heading south towards Athens "riviera". Great base for Acropolis and old town.
Booked 5 nights leisure break including flights on an Expedia special deal. Large comfortable rooms, decor a bit tired and not quite up to usual Intercontinental standard. Nice pool area, if a bit cramped for hotel size and outside road noise. Friendly welcoming staff, delivering excellent service, but let down by very high restaurant and bar prices (even given current poor £/€ rate). Hotel provides a free minibus shuttle to Syntagma Square, in central Athens, and cheap tram service is only 2 mins walk away. So overall a great base to explore Athens and come back to relax. But eat and drink authentic Greek food and drink in the many restaurants and bars in the atmosphere of the Plaka or Monastiraki, where they will not impose the same strict dress code as in hotel roof terrace. We spent one day out on the coast at Lake Vouliagmeni - an Uber from the hotel was only €17 each way and took 25 minutes.

Class hotel.

Pros: Location - Very near to Acropolis.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Very convenient location.
On a holiday with my wife to Athens. Cant ask for more. All in all, this is most recommended property.

Wonderful place

I loved this hotel. The staff were so helpful and pleasant. The restaurants were great too. In fact, I liked it so much, I changed my reservation from one hotel back to this hotel because I found it to be exceptional
