Four Stars Get Three

Mainly a disappointment. Previous raving reviews by other hotel guests, its location and the four-star rating made me chose this hotel. While meticulously clean, wonderfully helpful staff, rooms are very small, impersonal and barren. The hotel is overall a little worn and torn. My room had no desk on which to place my laptop and to do a little desk work like planning your stay in Athens. WiFi is free but almost non-existent. Its capacity is very limited and the connection is so slow that it is even difficult to download an electronic boarding pass. The connection times out. Location is a strength, that is if you do not choose a room facing Syngrou Avenue, which mine did. Windows are sound proofed but it does not help much. The noise from traffic outside is almost deafening around the clock. Also, this is not a hotel for someone disabled! To get to the top floor, where the restaurant is, you need to climb a flight of steep stairs. A challenge for anyone unless young and fit. Stairs everywhere else in the building also lack a railing and steps are uneven so are tricky to use. You avoid the elevators which are slow, miniscule and old-fashioned. So, this hotel's main assets are definitely location and its exceedingly friendly and helpful staff. While paramount, in my opinion, this does not qualify the hotel for a four-star rating.
