Two blocks out of town for a college visit at UGA

Posted Feb 4, 2017
Just outside of easy walking distance to Downtown Athens, GA, this hotel served its purpose: close enough to reconnoiter the Athens and University area. Room (2 queen beds) was clean, as was the bathroom, but very tired and in need of a renovation. Traditional heating/air, which was difficult to find a comfortable temperature. Staff was friendly and helped me connect to wifi. Breakfast was cereal and items in wrappers. The coffee machine was broken the first morning, but repaired by the second morning. Rates were as advertised, with the Saturday night increased over the Thurs-Fri nights. This hotel served its purpose--a place to sleep for 3 nights.

Nice hotel close to UGA

I had a clean room. The breakfast bar could be improved. No hot foods - pancakes and eggs. Overall, it was a good experience.

Hotel staff were all but clueless. Took almost 20 minutes to check out because the owners had messed up the reservation at check in and misplaced it. At check in, I was told the room was ready and when I arrived, I noticed that housekeeping was still working on it. Room is somewhat overpriced for what you get.

Not a great experience.

Posted Jan 29, 2017
Easy walk to downtown, but the rooms were out dated not very clean. There was a mattress set laying against the fence just outside our room. The bathroom was less than desirable (tub, floor and toilet were all dirty...although the sink was spotless). For the price ($125/night)....it was not worth it! If I can't get a room closer to the Classic Center next time, I will stay further out and drive in.

OK place for one night sleep

Posted Jan 23, 2017
Pros: Room side and bet.
Cons: Cleanness of the room and the equipment really needs updating.
Location: It is located in a residential area with some student fraternities so it was loud at night.
The room is of good size and the bed is comfortable. But the room smells moist and mildew. The faucet does not flow well. The bath tub is discolored. No one is enticed to take a bath in it.

A good option if absolutely nothing else is availa

Posted Dec 8, 2016
I was in Athens for a conference and no other hotel had rooms available in downtown. I needed a hotel close to some of the local establishments so I could walk back-and-forth. As far as location this hotel was great but definitely a hotel you would not take your whole family to. The staff probably could've been nicer. I went out of my way to be extra nice just to see what kind of response I got. I didn't get a whole lot in return but that's fine. I will say that the bed was comfortable and there were plenty of cable channels. The one real complaint that I have is that they were people smoking in the rooms next to me and I could smell it in my room which was non-smoking. you know what to expect from a hotel like this so I would say that it definitely met my expectations.

I am glad that you stated that we met your expectations. We do feel that we provide a good value in the Athens area. We do apologize that the room next door was smoking. We know that was very uncomfortable. Please come and see us again soon.

Hotel is desperately in need of better housekeeping and maintenance such as painting, carpets, etc. Thin walls between rooms and very easy to hear unwanted noises from adjoining bathroom.

Not a hotel I would recommend

Posted Oct 25, 2016
Pros: The staff was very friendly. Convenient location for my trip.
Cons: Blankets had holes; toilet did not flush easily; comforters had stains on them; room just did not feel clean; could hear the TV next door as clear as our own. There were no hot breakfast items offered besides microwavable sandwiches even on the weekend.
Location: This location is near downtown Athens and the UGA so close to all the entertainment venues in this college town.

Pros: Location
Cons: Updating, fan in bathroom, lighting in bathroom, air condition/fan.

Good location, easy check-in and check-out, WAY over priced.
