Won't recommend or stay again.

Posted May 26, 2017
Was a poor hotel. Breakfast was good. Some staff ok, others not. Don't ask for a receipt...they can't give you one. Gave them a poor room rating the 1st night after checking in as room was not as pictured. Got a reply we will fix it.. was never contacted to correct. I would not stay again or recommend. After early morning staff refused to provide me with a receipt and they were not friendly. Do not book spend your hard earned dollars esle where.

Good location & good price

Posted Mar 25, 2017
Good location, 3 minutes walk to metro station, 10 - 15 minutes to syntagma square and main touristic objectives. Although the streets behind the hotel are a litle strange and full of immigrants so stay on main streets. The breakfast buffet was really good with many options. Rooms were cleaned every day so that was certainly a plus. The view from the 12th floor was really nice, but i wont recommend the food, i got some allergies read skin from raviolli & sea food... (my btother )

Uninspiring and a bit jaded in poor neighbourhood

Posted Feb 10, 2017
Pros: The rooftop restaurant and pool bar with good food and outstanding panoramic views of the city
Cons: Rooms need to be modernised and the staff could do with some customer services training!
Location: The Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum are by far the highlight. Piraeus is nice and St. Isidore Church (the highest point in Athens is recommended.
The Dorian Inn was clearly once a nice hotel, with lots of marble, tasteful furnishings and a rooftop restaurant and pool bar with outstanding views of the city especially at night. But, it feels dated and a bit jaded now. The bathroom in our first room (we requested a change) was so tight that you couldn't comfortably sit on the toilet, as the sink protruded too far and had a very small bath. The rooms are clean and basic (like a Travelodge at home), but in need of some modernisation. The staff were also below par, and on the requesting a room change quite unhelpful (verging on rude), although we did eventually receive a different room on the second night. In terms of location, during the day this is excellent for accessing the sites of Athens. Less than 5 minutes walk to the Metro station at Omonia Square (which is also a stop for the three city bus tours). It is also very close to the outstanding covered markets where fresh fish, meat and vegetables are arrayed daily A stroll down Athinas to Monastiraki Square is also only 10 minutes away and about 20 - 25 minutes to the Acropolis. However, after dark the character of the neighbourhood changes to something quite oppressive. The small streets throng with young men and no women, whilst it is not overtly threatening, my wife in particular felt very uncomfortable walking back to the hotel at night. It is also quite noisy until the early hours and from early in the morning.

4 nights in Athens

Posted Dec 17, 2016 on Hotels
Great hotel near the centre of Athens. Most tourist areas are walking distance which saved us in taxis. The area is safe enough. Public transport is pretty much across the street. There are some nice little food shops near by. Breakfast was AMAZING! We have travelled a lot and this was the most impressive breakfast! Was massive! One top of the hotel is a great restaurant. Amazing views across Athens. Really great watching the sunset as you look across at the Acropolis. Their coffee is overpriced. Meals are nice and reasonably priced. Would stay here again!

Great location. short walk to everything - metro, ancient sites. AMAZING breakfast. massive selection!! Great roof top bar with a view across the entire city. Coffee prices were expensive (4 euros) but dinners reasonable (10-12 euros).

Great hotel with fantastic views of the Parthenon.

Clean spacious room, staff friendly, bathroom adequate. Only one concern. There is only one electric plug with tv plugged into it. Other plugs situated under dressing table but innaccessible. So a problem if you have Laptop, mobile phone to plug in. Also great location within a few minutes walk from Omonia square.

Old

Brekfast was good and the nigt receptionist during check in was very professional and helpful. The room was big but very old and dirty.Horrible smell from the bathroom pipes and dirty carpets. Corridors and communal areas same as above. You get what you pay for it but definitely you can find much better in Athens for the same price. Nice view from the roof bar but the drinks were awful.Location is bad (unsafe to walk late at night but that is mostly everywhere in Athens center and near Omonia square ).

Good views. Good location.

Pros: Location
The only problem was the toilet leaked fresh water every time you flushed. They sent someone up to fix it. It had been caulked but did not work. Repair man re-caulked it and it failed again. Otherwise the place was nice.
