Anniversary Getaway

Posted Apr 5, 2017
Pros: The room and the friendly staff
Cons: Being overbooked
Location: Go to downtown for food!
The Graduate managed to overbook us but still got us a new room at the last minute. I was very clean and quick once we got into our new room. In the end, we were given wine for our issues.

Dear Taylor, First and foremost, we would like to wish you a very happy anniversary once again! We are so honored that you chose us for this special occasion. While it sounds like there may have initially been a mix up with your booking, we’re glad our front desk staff was able to remedy the situation with a new room and treat you to a bottle of wine. We hope you’ll consider us again for future getaways. Sincerely, Sandi Kennedy Assistant General Manager

.We stay here often

Posted Mar 1, 2017
Pros: Location, bed comfort, most of the staff are very friendly.
Cons: Bathrooms need air vents....they don't have any so the whole room is musty. Need to have a shuttle driver available at all times.
Great hotel....some minor complaints: ~room was musty smelling ~TP holder was broken so roll kept coming off ~A driver for the shuttle wasn't always available ~The young lady working the front desk wasn't very friendly. She wouldn't print my boarding pass.

Moldy

Posted Feb 16, 2017
Pros: Wonder decoration and helpful staff. On site coffe shop was delicious.
Cons: Clean and dry out the rooms, they are old and moldy.
The Graduate is a charming and extremely well decorated hotel that would have been very enjoyable other than the smell. Upon first entry I thought my room was just old but after returning later in the evening I realized that it smelled like a house that experienced a flood and wasn't properly cleaned. I was exhausted so I went to bed and tried to ignore it but I woke up in the middle of the night with a sore throat, stuffy nose and horrible headache. AKA my worst allergy symptoms AFTER taking meds that evening. Many of my symptoms immediately disappeared when I left my room confirming the mold present in the room. I was extremely disappointed in what should have been a wonderful stay.

Dear Julia, Thank you for taking the time to review us. While we’re glad to hear you enjoyed our wonderful decoration and helpful staff, we apologize that other aspects of your stay were not up to par. The smell you describe encountering in your room sounds very uncharacteristic of our hotel. I can personally assure you that if you choose to return for another stay, you will not experience this issue again. Sincerely, Michele Uhaze General Manager

Unclean

Posted Feb 3, 2017
Room was dirty, shower had mold along the edge, carpet was so old I didn't want to walk with bare feet on it. Felt like a cheap motel. Not worth the money AT ALL.

Nice hotel close to all downtown Athens venues

Posted Jan 22, 2017 on Orbitz
Stayed due to a short notice hospital stay of a family member. The Graduate was a nice weather walk to Athens regional. The road traffic was audible in my room. So if you are a light sleeper request a room further back on the grounds. A lovely place to stay for business or pleasure.

The website is very good and sells you on high expection of the experience for the price. But it wasnt worth it to me once in the room. It has interesting decor and clean and the main building with the banquet hall and lobby is nice. But staying over for a night and leaving early the next day wasnt worth it. But I can see it being a perfect setting for a group event or several night stay when you can enjoy the common spaces.

For Location, Flare, and Music try the Graduate

Posted Jan 18, 2017 on Hotels
Wow! Great location, live music every night at the restaurant on the property, and themed rooms that were stylized and had all the amenities. It is a short walk to lively downtown Athens and the staff offered to shuttle me downtown and back even when I arrived late (9:30 PM). Despite the proximity to downtown, UGA, and the live music on the property, my room was quiet and dark with blackout blinds. I slept very well near the heart of Athens. The Graduate does not have a business center, but the staff at the front desk helped me print short documents I needed to get to others during my stay. A+. In fact, the staff at the front desk were just awesome. The restaurant and bar called the Foundry were great. One of the two nights I was there was a benefit concert and no matter the occasion I encountered, guests got in without charge if they wished. Noah, the manager, was a great guy--you will be in good hands for lunch and dinner there. I highly recommend the Graduate. One note: I used in-car navigation to try to find it the first time and failed (the Graduate's entrance is on the triangle tip of a set of streets; under a bridge then first available right into the parking lot). Google was much more accurate and got me there the second time.
