It was a perfect weekend to celebrate a birthday. The snow really topped the weekend off. We went to Hocking Hills to hike, stopped and got coffee at the local shop and enjoyed the hot tub.

Unexpected Inside Visitors
La Vigne is a very rustic and cute house. However, the windows and doors are not sealed well thus allowing for a multitude of insects to enter the house!! Our initial encounter was several flies in the kitchen and upstairs bedroom. Then a few wasps and stink bugs. On day three of our stay, the weather warmed up and we proceeded to face HUNDREDS of ladybugs on the kitchen floor and window by door, on every windowsill and all over the loft area including on top of the beds. A lengthy cleanup ensued. The owners left a sweeper in the upstairs bedroom which we used a lot. We didn't anticipate nor want to do this on our vacation, but it became a regular job. I talked to the manager about this and she said: 'Mother Nature decided to give us a gift of unseasonably warm weather causing flies and beetles to be more active'. In the house? I have stayed in many homes in Hocking Hills and this was a FIRST. Also, please note the step into the house is incredibly steep and should be taken into consideration before your stay. Likewise, the front screen door is torn and the mattresses are old and soggy.

Girls weekend
The hot tub was amazing. The seclusion in the woods was peaceful and quiet. Compared to other places we have stayed at the property could have been a little more inviting in personal touches and kept a little better (an example would be the porch swing had moldy cushions and there was a broken chair in the basement. )However, overall there are no complaints because the property was as described in the listing.

Short stay-
Our stay at this cabin was cut short, due to a non-cabin related kerfuffle. Amy was amazing and responsive. She was excellent and very compassionate. She relocated us immediately. The cabin itself is funky and cool. Be prepared for well-water (bring ice) and a doozy of a front step. Not for those with mobility issues. Quite private. Quiet. Nice fireplace. Good internet+ smart TV. Hocking Hills is beautiful and the town of Logan is friendly. Again, Amy was great and saved the day. Would recommend their properties.

It's a Place Of Residence
Overall, we enjoyed the amenities on site and the secluded aspect is unmatched and that was our major desire. However, the sulphur smell from that well was unreal and I know that can be nearly impossible to rectify, but some other outlet for consuming this water should have been set up. We overlooked this but couldn't overlook the beds being insanely uncomfortable. We ended up sleeping on the couch in the basement instead. If what I mentioned above doesn't concern you, then you will love the property as these were the only faults we found that concerned us. We did do some brush clearing also because the beautiful plants that were there were being choked out by overgrowth, but that's because I love gardens and likely wouldn't concern others.

Overall the property was nice. My only complaint was I found a used incontinence pad laying on the floor of the loft area which is very gross. My other suggestion would be to invest in a water softener as the water had a very strong smell of sulfur which made showering and hand washing unpleasant.

Cabin was nice inside but a little worn (need TLC). The grounds were very overgrown with weeds and vines. Would have liked to see the gardens taken care of.
