Swan House was completed in 1928 for Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hamilton Inman, heirs to a cotton-brokerage fortune. Named for the swan motif found throughout the interior, the house was designed by architect Philip Trammell Shutze (1890-1982), of the Atlanta firm Hentz, Reid and Adler. In 1977, Shutze was recognized as America’s greatest living Classical architect.
In addition to the exceptional architectural design, Swan House features embellishments by several noted artists. Naturalist, muralist, and eminent bird painter Athos Menaboni decorated Mrs. Inman’s dressing room. Herbert J. Millard hand-carved wood components throughout the home and prominent interior decorator Ruby Ross Wood consulted on several of the main rooms.
In 1966, under the leadership of Mrs. Ivan Allen Jr., the Atlanta Historical Society purchased Swan House and most of its original furnishings, ranging from 18th-century antiques to 20th-century objects. Swan House opened to the public in 1967 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and a City-designated Landmark. The property encompasses 22 acres of gardens and forest, all original components of Shutze’s novel site plan. This was on the side of Binders art supplies. The go to place for art supplies for SCAD students and others who need specialty supplies. Great place and nice people. They helped me out with a project when I looked like a complete novice, which I was. A little gossip, perhaps? Great place for all ages to learn to ride and where the horses laugh at all your jokes;) Atlanta architecture Oh the time it must have taken to make this! In Jamaica, it's like a tradition to have at least one pair of clarks shoes. So with the colors of our national flag, I had to. check out one of the largest fish sculpture at the Atlanta Fish Market... #blue #travel #wanderlust #atlanta #art #sculptures #massive #sight Don't be fooled, this is a billboard and he is a mannequin. Quality chicken sammies, fast food style. Backyard view of the Swan House. Atlanta, GA Depoting trains.
I was looking at this and thinking about how many there are, ready to serve (but at the moment going to bed), and yet there are so many people who think these things are evil. More from the land of Lego You find gun shops in the oddest places, this one was on a street miles from anywhere. Pretty cool the first go thru with different types of activities Beautiful place! Put the message in the box... Seafood from Riviera Nayarit on Buford highway. Each guest receives a complimentary marlin ceviche tostada with a seriously picante habanero salsa. Huge portions and great flavors. Try the Riviera seafood soup or the langoustine platter. The place is a little loud thanks to the in-house mariachi bands. Another Buford Highway gem. The grill outside Brito Supermarket is red hot all day grilling pollo asado and pork ribs. A whole grilled chicken costs $8.99 and the flavor is phenomenal. Ask for the red and green salsas. #BuHi #pollo #streetfood Quaint church on Peachtree Rd Swan house. Old gas station turned into hipster burger joint........and it’s good! When in Atlanta, make sure you try this! A great theater to find indie films most of the year, but during awards season it's a good place to catch a few of the Best Picture noms. #restaurant
