great location, comfortable room

Posted Feb 24, 2018
Pros: location
Cons: price, but that's downtown Auckland
Location: right on Queen street, stroll to dining and shopping
We stayed one night on our way out of Auckland. Excellent location right at the SkyBus stop. Older hotel, but nicely kept up, very clean and comfortable room.

Helpfull staff and comfortable bed. Nice little kitchenette. My only complaint would be the single pane windows that don't block out the noise on Queen St. Earplugs were required to drown out the traffic sounds. Traffic does calm at night however. I would recommend.

Staff was very nice and helpful.

I did not like the room. Several things needed repair during my stay. To their credit, each repair request was fixed immediately. The sofa had an odor that permeated the room.

Hotel in downtown Auckland

Posted Jan 12, 2018
Pros: It was comfortable.
Cons: The odor in the lobby
Location: We arrived late and wasn't completely comfortable with the location.
Overall the hotel was nice. There was an odor in the lobby when we first walked in but the rooms were clean and comfortable.

Centrally located

Posted Jan 7, 2018
Pros: Location to Skycity, waterfront, parks and museums, all very walkable.
Satyed at the Scenic hotel as wanted downtown hotel to meet people. It is on Queen street which is Main Street and convenient to walk to major sites. Also, Skybus drops off 30 meters from hotel, a bonus as only $17 for Skybus vs $90 for cab. The hotel is older. But has some old class style. the rooms include a refrigerator and extras. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom is small but does the job. It was clean, and other than some party nose from the University students was quiet. Would stay there again as very convenient, comfortable and helpful friendly staff. Of note would be nice to know before you get there of the credit card extra charge they add.

Fantastic value hotel, better than I expected!

Posted Jan 2, 2018
Pros: Comfortable, quiet, close to anything
Cons: Hmmm .... nothing!
Location: Shopping, restaurants, bars, nightlife
We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It was clean and spacious, even with an extra bedroom at no charge. We could walk everywhere from there. It was quiet - we were very happy there.

Suitcase broken by staff, unsatisfactory response

Posted Dec 27, 2017
I recently stayed at the hotel - paying almost $400 for two nights to stay somewhere nice and central. However on the check in the porter broke my bag, I said to him not to worry as I had assumed speaking with father he could repair. Sadly when that wasn’t an option after him looking at the case - I spoke to the hotel about the issue. I was severely disappointed with their response on the issue - the case was an over $400 item...of which they only agreed to contribute $100 to pay for a new one before I travelled back! Given I had paid $400 to stay there I was now down a $400 suitcase and they wouldn’t even contribute a fair level of a night free as a refund (half the suitcase value)...what a shame as otherwise the stay was pleasant enough.

Great weekend base

Posted Dec 17, 2017
Located on Queen St, directly opposite Aotea Square and the town hall with the Airport SkyBus stop 30 metres up the road. Handy to everything and walking distance to trains and ferries. Really enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff, good size room, well fitted out. Some street noise .
