Last minute choic

After a late arriving flight and getting to the hotel at 1:00am, we found a note letting us know they would be right back. 15 minutes later and 2 phones calls trying to find someone to hell us, we did finally get a room. The room was right across from the elevator, and every time it went by we got to hear it. After a few minutes in the room we find the toilet does not flush/ drain correctly, and in the morning find out the tub does not drain correctly either. Informed the front desk about the issue and were told we needed to contact Expedia? I did not realize Expedia was in charge of maintenance for the property. When we looked outside in the daylight, we realized there was nothing around us but a Waffel House and another hotel, which was boarded up and rundown. At this point we decided to check out and move hotels and were told by the hotel we could check out as we had a three might stay and could not change or cancel. I was not aware of this when I booked, but when I went back to check my confirmation it did state this, but only after I had confirmed it. This experience was upsetting enough we checked out anyway. No more Courtyard or Mariott properties of us. We will stick with Hyatt or Hilton from now on. No more Expedia either.
