Stay-cation get away

Posted Jul 24, 2016
Pros: Staff was helpful and gracious. Rooms and property are so lovely. Great beds.
Location: great place to walk, see some of the older houses, funky restaurants, close to UT
This is the second time we have stayed at the Hotel Ella. We LOVE it so much. The rooms are lovely, the beds are SO comfy and the whole property is just gorgeous. The bar has fabulous drinks (and a great happy hour) and the restaurant is delicious. We walked to a great little place for breakfast, but have enjoyed the food on site as well. We will be staying again very soon!

Hotel Ella

Cons: What was disappointing was that there was only one soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. That was unnecessarily frugal when we were 4.
The hotel is very nice and has charm! The personnel are nice and friendly. Valet service can drop you off and pick you up when they are available. We were a family of four staying two nights and the two queen beds were great between us. The room was spacious and clean. The in-room breakfast was great but very expensive. The food in the in-house restaurant was not of the class I expected at the price, in fact, it was rather simplistic-plain. I would not recommend eating there. Also We set out a note on the door that our room needed service when we left 10 AM. They had not gotten to it when we got back at 4PM. Other than that, the hotel was lovely nd even had a nice little pool we cooled off in, in the afternoon Austin heat.

Very Close to UT campus

Posted Apr 26, 2016
Pros: Very clean, small property. Hotel bar stays open until 11pm - which was perfect for a nightcap!
My husband and I traveled to Austin to see a concert at Bass Hall, located on the UT Campus. The area around the hotel doesn't have many restaurant choices (that aren't chain restaurants), and we wanted a fresh "Austin" experience. You don't need to leave the hotel to find tasty, fresh food that is unique! We decided to try a snack at the hotel restaurant - Goodall's Kitchen - before the concert, and we were pleasantly surprised! And, we even ate breakfast there the next morning because we liked it so much! Plus, we took an Uber ride to and from the concert - very quick and convenient! And, didn't have to worry about parking. We think the hotel has a car service, although we didn't realize it until after we had contacted our ride....

We originally book a 2 bed room - when we arrived there were none available- my son & I were given 2 rooms next to each other with king sized beds at no extra charge.
