Rundown, evening staff unhelpful, very poor brkfst

Posted Apr 10, 2017
Cons: Staff need to be more knowledgeable about restaurants that are available. Information in the rooms (about food choices) needs to be updated
Location: Nothing to do right there. IHOP and a couple other restaurants are walkable but the evening staff do not know it.
This hotel is pretty rundown for the price. The evening staff incorrectly said there was no open restaurant within walking distance my first night there. The in-room menu was out of date and could not be used to order food. The information staff then gave me from their database was also out-of-date, with phone numbers that did not work. They could not provide any indication of how to get food that first evening--but it turns out there was an open IHOP only 1 1/2 blocks away! There was no way to get comfortable in the room except when actually sleeping (the bed was comfortable for sleep). The provided breakfast was the worst I've seen anywhere for many, many years. DO NOT recommend this hotel!

I’ve received your review of La Quinta Austin - University Area. This is definitely not the experience we want you to have when staying with us! Your feedback will help us improve our operation and sorry that my staff didn't give you the right answer because we do have a texmex restaurant a few steps from our lobby at the right site of our lobby open until 9pm every day. Visible form our lobby. I will reinforce the service in that matter. Our breakfast is only continental, not a full service breakfast, sorry about not covering your expectations. Rest assured your comments will be shared with our team, and it’s through comments such as yours that we’re able to improve. Thank you for your review. Sincerely, General Manager

Gotta be a better one somewhere in Austin

Posted Apr 3, 2017
Pros: You can park right outside the door but in the tornado came storm we had, didn't help that much.
Cons: Book @ a different motel/hotel.
Location: Busy highway, lots of places to eat but need to move closer in for activities.
Smelled like a dog in my room. Place filled with unsavory characters. More interested in themselves than guest safety.

Easy access

Posted Apr 1, 2017
Pros: Easy access for on/off hwy for day trips
Location: State house, UT, activities on Congress.
Hotel bathtubs are raised which felt a little scary and cumbersome to get into. There are handrails, however, so that is helpful

Creepy & unsanitary

Posted Mar 25, 2017
When we first got there the smell in the staircase was unbearable. The hallways smelled the same. As if they didn't take out he garbage in weeks. Then we had someone stalking my lil sister calling our room harassing her & The front desk told me they can't do anything about it smh. The staff was not too helpful with my issues as well. There were roaches in my room & holes in the sheets. I submitted a review before but got no feedback. I asked before if I can have some sort of compensation for this horrible stay. Thank you & i appreciate your time.

I stayed once in another La Quinta before and was satisfied. Not on this one. I wonder what happened to their standard.

Convenient Location; close to downtown area!

Posted Mar 19, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Convenience and location to downtown Zach Theatre and SXSW Festival.
Cons: An update/remodel.
Location: Downtown and SXSW Festival; Pappacitos Mexican Food and nearby mall.
While the hotel is older and could use an updating; it was clean and comfortable. If you are in the area with a focus on convenience, location, and cost; stay here. If your focus is on the new and updated, choose another place. The staff was extremely helpful and suggested nearby restaurants!

Triple Charged and Worst Customer Service Ever!!

Posted Mar 14, 2017 on Hotels
My husband and I stayed at this hotel on a Saturday evening. We booked our room through hotels.com and they proceeded to charge my debit card the full price of the room - a charge of $222.55 along with the $50.00 incidental fee (which he informed us of). He claimed that he could not see this charge on our room and then went on in later phone conversations to say that he may have charged us the full price of the room after all. He originally said that this was a hotels.com issue and that we needed to contact them because they were the ones who put this charge through on my card. My husband and I were out of town for our anniversary and did not budget for that additional charge. Needless to say, this additional $222.55 put us in a very bad position financially. Luckily we had enough money in our account to make it home. The lady who was working the front desk on Sunday morning said that she would get this charge credited back on my debit card and also credit back the $50.00 incidental fee. That Sunday evening when we got home my husband and I realized that our account had been charged AGAIN another $222.55 - this charge caused our account to overdraft. So, La Quinta charged our account a total of $495.10 this weekend on top of the price we already paid on hotels.com. I emailed and tried to call Raynell, the GM, and I received blunt, rude emails continued by a complete lack of communication whatsoever. Overall, the worst hotel experience and customer service we've ever.

College men partied directly above us BOTH nights

Posted Mar 12, 2017
Pros: Nothing. It is older and has only outside access to rooms unlike the newer La Quinta Inns. The best part was the managers on duty who were friendly
Cons: Security and watchful of the Inn's surroundings. This should never be allowed to disrupt a good night's sleep. Personnel could have been more proactiv
Location: This La Quinta is misrepresented as in the University area when in fact it is not. It is located several miles north and difficult to reach.
Horrible!! Hotel allowed frat party outside on balcony directly above us with loud shouting and drinking keeping us up past midnight. Hotel had to bring security around more than once the first night to try and quiet them down but did not break it up. We were fearful of retaliation. They put out cigarettes under our air conditioner so we smelled smoke in our room and we worried that our car was going to be keyed or our room broken into by drunk men. Unbelievably, this happened TWO consecutive nights! Additionally, the shower head was broken and sprayed water everywhere accept in the shower area - on ceiling, floor, toilet and was not useable. It could not be fixed until the next day - so no showers after a long trip!. Only one person working the desk spoke English which was a bit frustrating. Only the GM. I have stayed at many La Quinta Inns before and always had great rooms and service. Normally, if this had happened with a regular reservation not made through Expedia, I would have received compensation (reduction or free night) for the difficult stay. Since it was booked through Expedia and paid ahead of time, we were not offered any compensation for our miserable stay.
