Peaceful retreat near the border.

Posted Jun 19, 2016
We stayed one night in mid-June because it was close to the border, where I had an appointment first thing in the morning. The room was comfortable, with plenty of seating. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a hair dryer in the morning. The turn down service included turning on soft music from the iHome bedside clock, a very nice touch. Dinner at the restaurant was superb, with lovely views of the lake and good French wine and cuisine. I'd love to stay there longer to enjoy the spa treatments and the outdoors.

Magnificient landscape, top-notch food.

Posted Apr 19, 2016
Ideally located on the Lake Massapipi's waterfront, the landscape is magnificient. So are the wine and food at the Restaurant Le Riverain. Rooms are slightly outdated (renovated in the mid-80s) but nevertheless comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a great culinary experience in a relaxing environment.

Comfortable, relaxing inn

Posted Mar 13, 2016
Pros: Incredible hutch to the side of the fireplace in a reading room.
Cons: no
Location: Ski at Mount Orford; pleasant countryside drive; wineries and cheese making businesses. Excellent gallery in Sherbrooke.
Very pleasant, relaxing stay in an inn with a very comfortable ambience. Excellent breakfast. Dinner was very good albeit a bit on the expensive side.

RHTD Review, 12/15

Posted Jan 1, 2016 on Hotels
The only shortcoming was the small number of rooms with twin beds. The only suitable double beds for us are King-size beds (not Queens). We appreciated, however, being given, as one of the two rooms we reserved, a lage tin-bed room with fireplace at no extra cost; Thank You.

Not very relaxing getaway

Posted Oct 26, 2015
Pros: Nice country style, great location, nice views.
Cons: Zero insulation
Location: Located on lake Massawippi in Ayer's Cliff.
I took my girlfriend here on our anniversary / her birthday thinking it'd be nice to get away from our busy lifestyle to something more relaxing and catch up on sleep. I was heavily disappointed. The overall hotel was very nice in a quiet location by the lake, the room was also very clean and well put together. The noise was just unbearable. If you get stuck in room 7, change, change as far away as possible. From that room we could hear neighbors on both sides (I heard the TV from the neighbors, talking etc.), from the upstairs I heard the conference room that they were cleaning up at 7 am on a Saturday, and at 7 am you could also hear the music from the restaurant below. On top of it it the floors were so old you could hear every singly footstep in the hallway from the room. I asked the front-desk for a solution, he simply claimed that there were no conferences anymore and that both my neighbors were checking out. I guess I had to live with it. I don't expect to go back, ever.

I was disappointed to learn of your experience with noise during your recent visit and have verified that due to a small but noisy group in the hotel your concerns were justified. We have built a reputation as one of Canada's most peaceful and tranquil country hotels and guests return year after year to experience our pristine and quiet lakeside location. We empower our staff to promote and if necessary enforce a mutual respect for the needs of all our guests. However, some groups can be a challenge. My analysis of your situation has led me to believe that we did not provide 100% satisfaction to you and for this reason, I am pleased to have sent you a gift certificate for one night's stay which I encourage you to use at your earliest opportunity. When you do, I am confident that you will enjoy the experience of waking to the cry of the Loon rather than the hum of a vacuum cleaner. Best Regards, Jeffrey Stafford

Pretty but expensive

Posted Oct 21, 2015 on Hotels
It was a pretty inn located in a beautiful location. I was a little disappointed that a country inn with lovely main rooms filled with antiques and flowers would have decorated an upgraded room with black furniture and silver wallpaper. The beds were comfortable enough but for the money I would have expected more of a "heavenly bed" experience. Additionally, in the two days I was there, we never saw a fire lit in the lounge or dining room. Would have been nice on a cold, damp day. Staff was friendly an accommodating.

Stuff is friendly. The only thing make us uncomfortable is the queen bed is a bit narrow for two.

Toilet had problems flushing.

The toilet had problems flushing and although the came to fix it, it was not fixed properly. They really didn't take it very seriously.

Problematic

Spent over $500 per night. No power for half my stay. Not a whiff of an apology or an offer of a discount.

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately without any contact information, we can't look into the details of your stay. However I'm having a hard time understanding that you have no power as we have a huge generator which supplies 100% of our power needs in the event that we lose power from the public utility. We hope to have the pleasure to welcome you back soon! Best regards, Jeffrey Stafford
