Brief overnight... arrived late, left early

Posted Jan 19, 2018
Pros: I was leaving Boston early in the morning, after not much sleep in previous 48 hours, so wanted to be "on the doorstep" for Amtrack. This perfect
Very happy with my LIMITED experience, of what seems to be a very nice hotel

Excellent

Posted Jan 15, 2018
Pros: Everything was great, clean, staff, location, comfort.
Cons: Someone should double check room turnover to make sure things are up to standards.
Great hotel and staff. My only problem is there is toothpaste on the sink from a previous guest.

I only stayed for 3 nights and I’ll tell u for the room to be kinda small the room was still clean and comfortable, the bathroom was well organized and the view of the city outside the window was awesome . The front desk staff were very welcoming and polite..I would definitely return to hotel 140

Great Location, and great for the overall price

Posted Jan 2, 2018
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel 140. There was some confusion when I was trying to locate the hotel because my GPS brought me to a different location. When I confronted the hotel staff they said that for some reason they are having that problem. Room was clean, hotel friendly, and a very spacious room. I would stay there again.

Has Potential

Posted Jan 2, 2018
We had observed this hotel many times visiting our favorite bakery, Flour, located across the street (a must visit bakery in Boston.) Booked for NYE weekend. Location is very close to the Orange Line, 2 blocks to Green Line, 1 block to Starbucks / Dunkin Donuts, and central to Back Bay / Columbus Ave / Copley. The building is the old YWCA and has some nice architectural features. The lobby and staff are incredibly pleasant; there's an Italian Eatery in the lobby, unfortunately closed for the holiday weekend. The room was disappointing on many levels. The biggest dissapointment was the hvac unit - it would rattle on and then shut off with the sound of a file cabinet drawer closing (slamming shut.) Not easy to sleep through. The room is basic, but expected as the price reflects the no frills layout. TV, dresser and desk; One nightstand - room is too small to have nightstands on both sides of the bed. Bathroom is cold and awkward, with the sink in a corner by the door and a toilet that needs flushing multiple times. The tile floor was ice cold. There was a thermostat in the bathroom, but it did nothing. Odd, because the bathroom is right next to the hvac unit, but never got warm. Housekeeping started around 9am and made it painfully obvious how thin the walls were. We could hear the vacuum run each room nearby. With some added TLC, this could be an amazing hotel. The HVAC is the real star killer for this review. Needs to be upgraded /replaced.

Hotel was in a shared building with a few other businesses. There are also residences in the building. The rooms need updating and even though it is a great location it was a little different than I had anticipated.

Was hoping for bigger room; it is incredibly small. "lounge" areas with minimal and out of coffee

Perfect location with small rooms

Posted Nov 20, 2017
Pros: Location, location, location. The staff was all very friendly also.
Cons: Water pressure in the shower was pretty pitiful. However the sink pressure will knock your socks off.
Location: The metro is about two blocks or so away. The Boston Library is just around the corner as is the Prudential Building. Perfect spot.
Hotel 140 really is in the heart of downtown Boston. You are walking distance from the metro and numerous restaurants as well as shopping and attractions. As far as price goes, you will be hard pressed to find something in such a central location for such a reasonable price. Only negative I could find was the water pressure in the shower. The room that I stayed in was very small, but perfect for just one person. For my needs, it was just right and I will likely stay there again.
