Friendly and welcoming

Posted Feb 24, 2018
From check-in to check-out, my daughter and I enjoyed our stay! The staff were extremely helpful. The location is so convenient, right in the midst of all the boutiques, so it was easy to walk around Newbury Street! My daughter and I arrived at around 9pm so we ate at the Roost Bistro, the in-house restaurant, and we loved our food and our servers. The only issue is that our room was right next to the elevator, so we could hear its rattling whenever it was used. Other than that we loved it here, and I would definitely recommend it!

Great location great value

Posted Feb 20, 2018
Everything good except woken up 7:45 by 6 workers unaffiliated with hotel bringing several loads of two by fours into an adjoining building that shares a back staircase. When I went down just before 8 to put money in meter I asked the front desk to ask them to keep it down. Upon my return htge deskman informed me that he “couldn’t find them”. I walked back up the the stairs then walked the 15 steps to my room and asked the four guys standing there to please keep it down as my son was sleeping in the room. Kind of a irritating ending to an otherwise good stay.

Ideal location, comfy bed, and kind friendly staff

Posted Feb 10, 2018
Our stay at the Newbury Guest House was lovely. The room was quite small but we were on the go so much it didn’t really matter to us. The bed was super comfortable and the staff was always smiling! The hotel itself is quite old, there was a socket coming out of the wall and the by the window was a bit drafty and it always kind of sounded like the window was open. But all things expected in an old building, in my opinion. The only real issue we had was that we had an early flight out and when talking with one of the staff they offered to call us a call for 3:30AM so we could catch our 6:00am flight. But the cab never arrived. We ended up calling an Uber. This very well may have been the fault of the cab company and not the hotel, but it was frustrating. Overall it was perfect for what we needed close to delicious food, shopping, and transportation to get you anywhere you need.

Cozy Spot in the Deep Freeze

Posted Dec 30, 2017
Pros: Just my kind of place - charming, comfortable, tasteful without being "nouveau".
Cons: Should have grab bars in the bath!
Enjoyed our stay at Newbury Guest house - in spite of record cold temperatures. Excellent location - easy walk to Pru Center and other Back Bay locations. The 2 double/bay window room was charming and roomy, with period fireplace and tile. Included breakfast at The Roost downstairs was plentiful and tasty - food hot from the kitchen and fresh croissants from adjacent patisserie. Dinner at La Voile, also accessible from inside - glad that Boston can support this kind of restaurant - small but elegant, first rate cuisine. Would return for another stay.

good location but noisy

Posted Dec 19, 2017
Pros: location and interior
Cons: extra soundproofing between rooms
Location: Location is great - lots to see and do within short walking distance. very convenient to the subway
Great location and very charming interior. rooms are nice size. main problem is that the walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbors too easily.

4th floor room and no working elevator

Posted Dec 10, 2017
Pros: location
Cons: fix the elevator and better breakfast
Location: lovely area
room was ok and relatively clean but there was no working elevator and our room was on the top floor. lugging heavy luggage up the narrow stairs was not fun. worst bed and lumpy pillows ever but the room was surprisingly quiet
