Friendly staff, good food.

Posted Aug 1, 2016
Pros: Staff, breakfast, beds, balcony, views.. all lovely.
Cons: Cleanliness of room. Two shards of glass on the carpet, found in a very uncomfortable way by my daughter's and my feet! Also, fix that pool!
Location: Good location for exploring Austria and Bavaria. Salt mines, Eagles Nest, ice cave at Werfen and local cable car are all worth a trip.
A pleasant hotel, lovely friendly staff and loved the buffet breakfast. Probably wouldn't recommend the evening buffet though, a little over-priced at €29. The rollaway bed for our daughter made the room feel quite cramped and a couple of nights were uncomfortably hot, even with the balcony door and window open, as there was no air conditioning. Both my daughter and myself cut our feet on shards of glass on the carpet, which was a bit of a shock I have to say! Beds were really comfortable and staff super helpful wherever possible, always with a smile. I must say though, that it was a great disappointment that the pool was out of action for the entire length of our eight day stay. This was perhaps the main reason for booking this particular hotel and so not to have the use of it was not good. The hotel receptionists were extremely apologetic did try and make amends by paying for our trip to the local baths/spa, but this took a day out of exploring the area, as we wanted to spend just half an hour or so at the end of each day enjoying a dip in the hotel's own pool. All in all, a good stay, but with some disappointments.

Lovely traditional hotel in good location.

Posted May 27, 2016
Pros: The hotel was clean and comfortable; the staff were very friendly and helpful; the pool area is impressive; the location is excellent.
Cons: Considering the standard of everything else at the hotel, the evening meals on offer were very disappointing - a bit like school dinners!
Location: The hotel itself opens out onto the main street in Bad Reichenhall with its shops, cafes. Berchtesgaden (Eagle's Nest/Konigssee) is only 20 km away.
We stayed here for the week commencing 14.5.16. It is a large hotel but the staff are very approachable, friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained, although there are only tea and coffee making facilities in the business rooms. We had a balcony looking over the mountains, and although it was quite a walk to reception and the dining room, the views were well worth it. The hotel is in an excellent, town centre location but the main entrance (which sat nav takes you to using the hotel postcode) is in a pedestrianised area, which can cause some initial difficulty. There is a rear entrance to the car park (off Mozartstrasse) which avoids the pedestrian area. The car park costs 7 euros per night. Our party included my elderly father, and if you are visiting the hotel with anyone who has limited mobility, be sure to request a room with a shower cubicle rather than a bath for safety. The buffet breakfast was excellent, with a wide range of food types including everything you would expect in a European hotel. However, we found the evening meals in the restaurant very over-priced at £29 for three courses bearing in mind the choice and quality of food on offer. The Axel Stubert bar was closed at the time of our visit, probably due to the fact it was very early in the season, and presumably that offers a wider, more reasonably priced range of meals. There are also lots of cafes and restaurants in Bad Reichenhall, within walking distance of the hotel.

Dear James, thank you very much for having chosen the Wyndham Grand Bad Reichenhall Axelmannstein in occasion of your stay in Bad Reichenhall. We are pleased that you took the time to write about your experience. It is a pleasure to share your warm and motivating comment about our staff with the team. That enjoyed your large room and it´s view is great! We are very sorry we were not able to meet your expectations regarding the dinner in our restaurant. You are right, our "Stüberl" is opening this week after renovation and from now on, a la carte dinner will take place there and we are able to offer a larger variety of food. Maybe you will have the possibility to try it in future. All the best regards, Daniela Leopold, Executive Assistant Manager

Bad Reichenhall a hidden gem

The Bad Reichenhall area is stunning, the Hotel is a grand old lady that is needing some makeup touchups but still fits in with the surrounds. Great breakfast.
