Castle Location

Location: The hotel is 1 hour from Merida where there is an excellent Roman theatre and amphitheatre. Don't miss this.
This hotel is a former fortress with a beautiful courtyard. This is used as a restaurant and bar. Amazing. There is a swimming pool with towels available from reception. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The restaurant is well worth trying. The starters are rather large.

Pros: history
Cons: not much
Location: superb variety all close by
didn't really fancy the traditional meal deal for 2. Found the wine list a bit challenging on the day - need another crack at it :)

Beautiful Hotel in the centre of town.

Pros: The setting - part of the town 'castle', the room, the staff. Especially the restaurant setting though the food not so great.
Cons: The restaurant, though set in a beautiful courtyard, was overpriced for pretty ordinary food - hence the 4/5 rating.
Location: Pleasant to stroll around, an old town, however only good for one afternoon/evening.
Perfect for a stopover on the way from Malaga to Santander. Small town centre with attractive square surrounded by bars, food looked pretty ordinary, but at 23:30 I had the largest and cheapest brandy I have ever had in Spain! we ate in the hotel.

Pros: Historical setting
Cons: It was fine
Lovely hotel. Did not eat there. Breakfasts were too expensive. Not value for the money. TheParadores promise you discounts but don't tell you that you must have breakfast to qualify.

Pros: The Castle and its history
Cons: Non
Location: See review
The castle/hotel is in an exceptional location. What you get from the castle in terms of rooms is up to you you get what you pay for. We were more than satisfied with the tarrif Unifica. Restaurant in the courtyard looks good and the bar in the same area is also good. Pool Area is enjoyable. Great experience Zafra is a great town to visit. Close to the Roman ruins at Merida. The hotel arrange the parking in the square so no problems there.

Pros: Elegance
Location: A little hard for me to find with my GPS. Ended up driving down a walking street. But it was well worth the trouble. Good parking right outside.
This was by far my favorite place to stay. Elegant Ducal palace. Cant say anything wrong about the place. Dinner was delicious.

The best in Zafra

Very nice hotel, as all of the "Parador" hotels. Nevertheless, if you need to use the Internet with your own computer, don't expect much. Their Wi-Fi doesn't work properly (computer or phone), even though the staff insists that it is working... I have noticed that in this location more than one time.

Like the other hotels of this chain, the Parador of Zafra is a historical place (a castle) which was modified to accept the hotel. Everything is quite nice and the restaurant is very good. One could not be in a better location in Zafra. It is the downtown area.
