Great location, shabby hotel

Posted Aug 1, 2017
Pros: Location is perfect
Cons: Entire hotel needs to be renovated. Start with the carpets and bedspreads - they are downright dirty.
Location: It's perfect and everything, including great restaurants, bakeries, bars etc is nearby.
The location of this hotel is excellent - right on the main square and close to everything. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. The hotel itself is in poor condition and run down. The bedspreads and the carpets are very dirty, but the sheets and bathroom were both very clean. I would definitely recommend bringing slippers. We were only there for one night so it was fine. If you are looking to spend a few nights, I would probably find something a little nicer. By the way, when they say the bed is a double, they mean it. I was hoping for a queen but we had to squish into a pretty small bed. The breakfast was included and was good, although don't bother asking for a cappuccino. Not sure what they served, but it definitely wasn't cappuccino and this is strange in a city where everywhere I went the cappuccino was incredible - just as good an Italy.

Easy walking to all attractions

Posted Jun 26, 2017
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Metropole. It's in the middle of all attractions. We can walk almost everywhere close by: the sea, the shopping mall, the pedestrian street, the hop on hop off buses and the trams. While there are lots of hills nearby, it doesn't bother us as our hotel is on the Main Street areas; we don't need to walk on the hills to get to the hotel. The escalator inside the metro can climb up 3-4 flights of stairs so it can save lots of walking on the hill free of charge. We found that food and wine, beers and pasty are much cheaper in Lisbon than other places in Europe!!!! Lisbon is a very touristy place. We hope to return to the same hotel some days.

The hotel is old and needs to be updated. The furniture and carpeting needs to be replaced and the beds could use better mattresses. The lift broke on my last day and I had to carry my luggage down. However, the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Great location, but that's it!

Posted Apr 4, 2017 on Hotels
Great location, and that is where the good review stops. Overpriced hotel with many things that need to be fixed. If someone would just put love into this hotel, this would be the perfect place to stay while in Lisbon. However, the beds are horrible, the towels are not a pure white any longer, there are cracked titles and no security on the doors what so ever.

Great location, showing wear and tear, "unplugged"

Posted Mar 25, 2017
Pros: Location & Staff.
Cons: Internet (not network) speed
The staff was great, location was great, but carpets on steps were torn and could be dangerous carrying bags. Internet was either non-existent, or the speed of dial-up.

Great Central Location

Posted Mar 22, 2017
Pros: Its location mainly
Location: Located in one of the main squares and close to many of the other interesting squares and buildings. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby.
The hotel is in a great, central location, close to the main attraction and surrounded by good cafes and restaurants.

Terrible front desk staff

Helpless and rude front desk agents. One of them didn't even know if the room had a hair drier. The elevator is old and noisy. The room itself is ok.
